I haven't pulled any since I had the rebuild done. The transmission shop that did my rebuild pulled a speed sensor code but they said they replaced the speed sensor on the rear diff and that didn't change anything. It stays in the last highest gear. So if it shifted into 2nd before coming to a stop it stays in 2nd when I stop. If it shifted all the way up to 4 or OD it stays in that gear. The problem is if I'm traveling at highway speed and slow to make a turn or attempt to pull a hill I have to do it in...- BossHog

It’s black but I bought it brand new. I read that the newer ones all come black but they’ve fixed whatever was wrong with the old black ones. I have a gray one that I pulled out of an e-350 van but have no idea how old it is. I couldn’t find a new gray one anywhere.- BossHog

Once it shifts into od or any gear for that matter it will not shift down at all. If I put it in P, 1 or 2 I get my lower gears back. It just won’t do it automatically.- BossHog

I have been having issues with the e4od in my '91 since I got it. It wasn't shifting, had the tranny rebuilt, still wouldn't shift. After replacing the FIPL myself it was finally able to shift. 1990 7.3 idi e4od transmission issues
My issue is slightly different but similar symptoms. I lose my lower gears after shifting up. If I put it in park when I come to a stop I get my lower gears back. So the transmission shop gave the truck back and still wasn’t shifting… I was able to track down the FIPL bracket and got that installed, hooked up the new FIPL and sure enough she shifts! FIPL sensor help
Any advice on getting the TPS in the right position? I’ve read in other threads to be careful when removing so that the new one goes on in the same position. Since I’m not the one who removed it how do I ensure proper position?- BossHog

@quickster I still haven’t had a chance to look it over really good because it’s been in the shop since I bought it. But that ground was something I did notice. My worry now is getting the position of the TPS right. Because I have no way of knowing what position it was in when it was removed...- BossHog

Long story short I bought a 1991 7.3 knowing it wasn’t shifting out of 1st gear. My only option was to drive it to the nearest transmission shop. Yes the FIPL was missing entirely. So waiting on that part then hopefully she shifts! @quickster I was looking at putting in a new champion cooling system. @typ4 Thanks for all that. That’s helpful. The torque converter along with the rest of the rebuild was not cheap… I’ll post parts here after I get the invoice. Truck has a new radiator. Not sure why but it shouldn’t be plugged or anything. Im gonna go through the whole truck and clean...- BossHog

Here is a picture of the torque converter that was taken out, and the sprag that was shot. Both have been replaced now. I’m not all that familiar with the E4OD components so I’m approaching this as a newbie. I appreciate all feedback!- BossHog
