The Forks is a beautiful wilderness town in the mountains of Maine, where rivers, lakes, mountains, friends and families, all meet for fun, affordable Maine vacations, relaxation and adventure.

The Forks area is a true four season gem of the Maine wilderness. Located on one of Maine’s beautiful Scenic Byway’s, The Old Canada Road section of

US Route 201, about halfway between Boston, Massachusetts and Quebec City, Canada, The Forks is named for the confluence of Maine’s Dead and Kennebec Rivers and is a very special and friendly place.

The Dead and Kennebec Rivers are well known for the best whitewater rafting and fishing in the northeastern United States. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, ponds and rivers, The Forks offers a Spring and Summer of endless opportunities for rafting, fishing, boating, sightseeing, Moose and bird watching, canoeing, kayaking, biking or just relaxing in a cabin or Inn to unwind.

In the fall, the foliage in our area along our scenic byway and these beautiful rivers is second to none, a leaf peeper’s paradise. The Forks is also host to many sportsmen for the Maine tradition of guided or self guided Maine hunting.

Winter brings Maine’s best snowmobile trails, snowmobile rentals and the amenities to support them. Winter in The Forks area is a great place for cross country skiing, ice fishing or snowshoeing.

A friendly small town with large amenities: The Forks has a full array of resorts, lodging, camping, lake and riverside cabin rentals with restaurants, pubs, fine dining, nightlife and other amenities to accommodate everything you need for a superior Maine vacation. Nowhere will you find a place with a friendlier atmosphere just waiting to make your Maine vacation stay exceed your highest expectations.

Just up the road after Moxie falls is a hidden hiking trail leading up to spectacular views of Moxie pound and surrounding mountains.I took my older sister up with her kids and we boondocked in Jackman with her camper and my tent.We went to Moxie falls and this hike.Had a great time.Tough little hike but well worth the effort. This was peak fall foliage here.Due to low rainfall, this years foliage wasn't as vibrant as it normally is.Still a pretty time of year though.
This place is really happening, with an official population of 30 (yes thirty).
If you didn't get the chance to get up here to vacationland this summer or fall, don't worry. We've got many great cabin and snowmobile rentals for some 'wicked good' winter fun,so wrap up the misses in a couple sleeping bags and a heavy snow suit, bring her up and put her on a snowmobile,a set of ski's or a pair of snowshoes and show your lady a good time in Maine.:)
