Oil Pressure Port?

Good morning Gentlemen,
Is this port that is plugged on the back of my motor an oil port?
Could it be used for an oil pressure gauge?

If I'm looking at it correctly, that looks like the oil pressure warning light port or on a turbo, the oil feed.

So there really is no difference in feeding the turbo or an oil pressure gauge from that spot versus the one on the drivers side of the block behind the oil filter?

To the best of my knowledge, that is correct.

I prefer the oil cooler location. It’s fresher oil and much easier to get to

I use the port on the bell housing flange by the oil filter mostly because Banks used it for EVERY idi they put turbos on.When these engines got a factory turbo the oil feed was enlarged to 1/4 inch from 1/8 inch and they used the top port you are asking about. Honestly its easier to work under the truck then it is to attempt a long reach to the top port.At least it has been for me and plenty of others.If you choose the top port a suggestion is to use plenty of cushion on the engine. It hurts us older guys laying on hard sharp metal. Oldbull8 made up a really nice working platform that fit over the top of the engine. He climbed up a few steps and laid down on it. Sure looked comfortable. Maybe someone can do a search and post a pic of it. He recently passed on and is surely missed by many here...

That port was where my stock oil pressure sensor was located on my '88. When I installed my hypermax kit, that same port was used by their oil feed line AND the stock oil pressure sensor.

You can see the oil feed line in the middle of the turbo kit, and there is a bend to the drivers side to give the metal some flexibility to the port (behind the pedestal).

Hypermax has a custom adapter tee to all for the oil feed line and the oil sensor. The sensor now sits horizontally to the driver's side of the engine, and you can see it peeking out behind the driver's side up-pipe in the photo above.

Thanks guys! Mine has been plumbed from the location down lower by the oil filter. I was just curious if this port would give any different results, so thank you for feeding the curiosity [emoji1303]

Oldbull8 made up a really nice working platform that fit over the top of the engine. He climbed up a few steps and laid down on it. Sure looked comfortable.

I know that at one time someone made "over the engine" creepers like this. They used their own stands with casters so they could be rolled around.

Yes, a topside creeper is awesome. I have one. It’s nice when doing anything on the top of the engine. Getting to the glow plug controller on an N/A is a breeze... I use mine anytime I need to do something behind the belts. If I need to get to be able to reach it, I grab the topside creeper, and not my little ladder.....
