Finally fixed the death wobble and bought a Monroe steering damper.

The instructions are vague and do not seem to cover a 2wd f series.

I have this mocked up after scouring Google. Have not tightened anything or drilled holes. The other end is just flopped on the tie rod. This is using one of the L brackets.

Using the straight brackets isnt really possible with the sway bar in the way.

Is this mock up location good?

seems to look good. can you get a few more angle shots?

i have never really had a need for a steering damper.

I can't really tell too much about location from your picture. There can't be too many possibilities, though.

The best I can do is sent pictures of how mine was done. It's an unknown brand (I'm not wiping dirt and all to see whether there is a name) and was on the truck when I bought it. The truck is my '91 4x2, with sway bar on the front. In the third picture you can actually see both ends of the damper, but not the middle.

you just saved me from crawling under the truck to take pics.
the brackets you have in the pic is OEM. Danielle has the aftermarket kit. they don't take into account for the sway bar.

That is actually helpful enough that it looks like it is ok to attach it to the bottom the the frame with the L bracket and have it not perfectly parallel with the tie rod.

Worst case is I show up at the rally and everyone points and laughs.

they may point and laugh, but more than likely they'll roll up their sleeves and fix the situation. just play the harried mom card. :D
