it's been a while since i've been here, since i found my black truck

88 4 wheel drive f250 had 460, now 6.9l from a doner van as far as i can surmise and from what i was told by the guy that did the transplant

the problem is no kick down bar running from the trans to the injector pump
no bigee right?

finally this trans bit the big one, the pros are quoting me 3000 to 3500 for a rebuild
so i want it to be perfect, working like it should

when i got this truck it had a box that had lots of goodies including a vac pump which i needed shortly after i started driving it and a transfer case.......maybe this is the transfer case i need? gear ratios?

thanks in advance for your time, love my big truck, want to drive it instead of the toy......

Shoot is it a c6? A guy out in central oregon does a full build on those for under a grand. And running without the kickdown bar isnt gonna hurt it, it just wont pop to 2nd when you floor it going down the highway

$3000- $3500 is a bit high for a C6, unless it is built for drag racing. :D

As for the kick down rod, you don't really need it. Manual shift to second when passing.

Thanks, that’s the best news I’ve gotten in a long time.
Guess I should have started here first
Your schedule allowing, I pay
I’ll need a tow, from PG.
And no rush,
Jeff

jeff-
do you want stock stall 2000 to 3000rpm flash or low stall convertor? about 1500 to 2000 rpm stall?
it adds a little to the cost since the convertor is furnace brazed and needle bearings instead of bronze bushings are used.
and do you want heavy duty friction material?
even with the numbers you were quoted, I can do all that with plenty of room on the price too.
pm "hydro idi" for a firsthand experience on the low stall convertor.
does your truck have turbo installed?

I’ll rely on the voice of experts (that’s y’all)
I know nothing about auto trans,
To me it’s one part.
I will be working it.
I spent a lot of time finding this truck and will be spending money on it over time.
Speaking of time, it’s time for a tranny.
I’ll have to get the extra transfer case and the front drive line from my storage.

Regards, Jeff

Lodi transmissions rebuilt my c6 for about 1500 a couple years back. And they put in a super low stall torque converter and beefed up a few other parts while they were in there.
Also had them rebuild my 32rh in Jeep YJ. It was about them same price.
I would highly recommend them if you can’t find anyone else for around that price.

Can’t you get a lockup tc for those? Or is that only available for the sbf trans?

Did some digging and I knew I wasn’t crazy, looks like with some serious pump mods a port can be added to give hydraulic pressure to create the assist for the tc to lockup, it’s similar how some drag guys are getting lockup in th400, but it requires a lot of billet parts and cnc work on the existing pump so definitely not worth the effort in an idi, probably be a $7000 trans by the time it was done

The closer you get to Pebble Beach.....
You know the story
No studios under 2 grand
Where a car ran into a McDonald’s and there considering NOT rebuilding
Another closed then turned into a Starbucks, that one was next th the local public high school.
Strange but true

Regardless it’s my home since 67
