Idle fuel consumption?

Don't quote me on this but I seem to recall reading "somewhere" that consumption was around 1/3 gallon per hour at idle.


I like your quote from Thucydides--you might enjoy reading this book:

the amount is very little. problem is due to being so little, the cylinders are too cold and the rings get washed down. on my in town towtrucks, the best I get is 150k on a motor before the oil consumption goes to a gallon between fillups.

Thanks Calvin! Now that's some useful information! I'll change my habits about leaving the truck running.
