I’m thinking that has the capsule style injectors still by that year? If so the pop pressure is acceptable down to 400 psi. Haven’t seen an adapter to run one of those in years

I would consider them capsule injectors and I was thinking in that psi range. Manual is not helping, just saying send to cat, but does show removing the cover off the pump. New injectors were only $50,the kicker is the old ones and new ones appear to have 0 pop pressure. Wonder if there is some special trick or tooling for testing other than just a screw on adapter. Knowing that these are installed finger tight I am not sure what was even used to pop test them.

Where did you get them from? The adapter to run these are rare and pricey. I would call the source up and see what they say to test it. Can you flip a line around and turn the engine over and see the spray pattern?

and there in lies the problem, every local that could rattle off the information I need has passed away. Sad to think of all the knowledge that has disappeared.

If you can get me a picture of what ya got I can get you what you need. If i cant get you a solid answer I know a retired cat pump builder who would. I know him through tractor pullings and building killer 3208s

Coworker brought his injector in and one in the precup assembly. The adapter between the injectors and injector line threads onto the pop tester, better though to test in the precup. Not sure what they were doing but I get a nice stream at 600 psi, cat says 400-500ish. So we will say injectors are good. So onto checking to see if the rack and all plunger move as it should. Slow progress, Winters project was cleaning and rebuilding carb for the pony motor.

Ah I see, no worries then. Cool to see someone working on the old stuff. Love the old iron.

on my mid 40's D7, model 7M--which i still use, the injector pump was full of oil every time i checked it.
I assumed it was in common with the engine oil.

It is not, holds maybe half a cup---ran way better when i changed it out.
