My clutch pedal has begun to disengage further down then I remembered in my 7.3. Turns out it's not the firewall, not the pushrod or most of the common issues. It's literally wearing the pedal assembly. I still have usable throw on both sides but it's only gonna wear more and it's pulling the pushrod at an angle which probably isn't good.

What's the best fix here? Do I just have to get a new pedal assembly or can i somehow sleeve the moving part? And can i get the pedal assembly out out there without messing with the steering column?

get another one that isn't worn. rebuild it and grease the heck out of it with synthetic caliper grease.
yes, it's an all day job and yes you do have to pull the column if you don't like being a contortionist.

Gotcha. Might have to check scrap yards this spring. Everything on ebay looks as used as mine. In the meantime if I take both nuts off at the sides and slide something over the shaft could I at least by myself some time? Couldn't hurt right? I still have an inch or more before the clutch catches from the floor. I can float gears pretty good if it totally died on me and already bypassed the neutral safety switch. Just don't want to pay 200 for a possibly worn assembly from eBay cause I'd imagine I can find something better in local yards.

While the assembly is different, a guy took a sd one and replaced all the bushings with sealed bearings...

Seems like I remember making an "emergency fix" on that one time (years ago) and using a brass rifle case, can't remember which caliber (maybe 45-70). Cut-off the primer end and used as a sleeve to repair the worn area. It worked till I sold the truck. Certainly not the best repair suggestion however it may get you by prior to finding proper repair parts.

Shouldn't the swing arm come off if the nut on the end is removed? There isn't anything else holding it on right? My bushing on the pushrod doesn't look so great after taking it off but there's still play in the bushing closest to the break petal. I'm sure i could make it better but I cannot get the swing arm off to save my life. It's soaking in wd40 right now.

It's still in the truck though lol. I need to drive it this week and thought I would be able to at least replace or help the existing bushings for the week but not looking like it's gonna happen.

out of three I pull out of trucks, I get one good one.
i do have some good brackets, but due to the amount of work and the increasing scarcity, I'm not cheap. pm me for sticker shock.
