Well it’s a new year and time to start the discussion for where to have this year’s meet (thanks @towcat)

I’ve spoken with a number of local members and here are the suggestions that I have received, and some of the features of each location that I have found through some research:

1. Guadalupe River State Park
Four miles of river front, full hookups for campers, showers and bathrooms for tent camping, close to San Antonio and Austin, lots of local attractions around the hill country area, and less than ten minutes from our shop for those who would like to check that out

2. Palmetto State Park
Multiple swamps, streams, oxbow lakes and the San Marcos river are all options for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. These boats are available to rent on the park grounds or visitors can bring their own. Lots of trails and place for fishing. Cabins, RV hookups bathrooms and showers are all available as well. This location is more secluded but a very scenic park.

3. Hidden Falls Adventure Park
Off-road trails, atv and dirt bike rentals and shooting range. All camp sites have water and electric, bunk house, RV hookups and tent sites available.

4. Pedernales State Park
Similar attractions as Guadalupe river state park but located closer to Austin. Fishing, hiking and bird watching with RV hookups, and campsites available.

5. Garner State Park
Swim or canoe the Frio river, explore the trails through the 1,700+ acres, or play mini golf at the park hq. Screened shelters, cabins, campsites and RV hookups available. Groups campsite reservations are available.

6. Surfside Beach
The wildcard option, off-roading and sand trails, cheap camping on the beach, easy to keep the group near each other, fishing and swimming on the beach.

These are the locations we are currently considering so let’s hear which one is your favorite. Whichever has the most support by March 1st will be where this years meet will be.

We will be meeting the weekend after thanksgiving so November 23-25th. This seemed to work well for everyone last year so I think we’ll stick with this date this year as well.

Lots of great choices there!!
Tried to add some variety for this year, I personally really like #3 and #1 but my vote won’t count. Gonna be a good year!

Edit: poll is now live, did not show up previously

I actually did not think about Hidden Falls, but that would be great fun and is gonna get my vote. Years ago, I helped cut many of the 4x4 trails when they were starting out. I was just out there in November, and they have graded the entire outer perimeter road. It can get a bit traction challenging--4x4 should be fine sticking on the graded stuff and 2wd would be fine as long as you hang with a 4x4 guy in your group. There are other trails to explore from wide and graded, to narrow, steep, and full width/length impossible. Hidden Falls is ATV, side by side, and dirt bike friendly. There are cabins if you don't bring a trailer. The campers bathroom/shower facility is pretty awesome--my wife even likes it. I have not had the opportunity to check out the shooting facilities, however I know they are there. They are generally group friendly and will offer a discount or package deal for a group. They offer a military discount. I can do leg work/recon if needed--it is only about 35 minutes from my house.

Dang it was Chad that suggested it, aka @ReticulateSplines too much going on in my head!

Thanks for the info Matt, I’m really liking that option the more I read about it, sounds like a really great time!

There is an off road area at Hidden Falls. I have not been there, even though it is only a short drive.

I don't think my CCLB on 34's would like some of these trails, probably break something.

I’ll probably take my truck (2wd) out on some of the trails if they aren’t too punishing, I’m sure the ambulance will be there to pull us all out!

Yes that was my mention, ive been there a couple time and when asked about places I knew it had a lot of sites avail with hookups.

I have seen some really large trucks rolling around that place without damaging anything.

I would bring toys if you have em, if you dont have em there is plenty of time to get some!
