hey guys ive been looking into adding a bypass filter. my main question is...

Anyone running one and can chime in on how far your oil changes have been extended?

i plan on putting alot of miles on the truck so i think it will work out on the long run.

the paperwork for my turbo kit says to change the oil every 2500miles. that would eat my wallet up quick.

thanks in advance, i did search but only found info on actual kits or installing.

If you can't afford the $40 do-it-yourself oil change that frequently, how will you be able to afford a $150+ synthetic oil change every 7500 (if it gives you that much difference), plus your extended change requiring regular oil testing.......... Plus the initial cost of the bypass system....... Plus any increased oil consumption on synthetic........ Plus other maintenance items.........

I think you might want to rethink the way you are looking at this..........
Might be cheaper overall to just do testing on a cheap oil change at 2500...... And go from there with what the testing tells you about it....... Might get 6000 on cheap oil for all you know.........

^ yes.
But likely would go much further with the bypass. But, indeed does depend on engine condition.
Quit your complaining about a $40 oil change. My filter alone is $40. The oil I run is roughly $150/5 gal.
Do you want to be cheap? Or have your engine last?

I can go over 8k miles according to my Blackstone lab report, but your gonna have a lot of fun and money doing it.

ok thanks. i guess i should have explained another reason im interested in it. i want to start going across country and would like to avoid changing my oil and unhooking my 32ft trailer to have it changed. being in california i would easily need it when i hit the east coast. changing it myself on the road is messy and can be annoying to carry and dispose of oil, but if i had a way to filter it on the road i could just run it back into the engine via fuel. ( i ran fine filtered WMO in my last idi without issue for years, i just didnt add much)

another reason is the turbo and large trailer. the engine only has 145k on it and even though the turbo has been on it since new id like to keep the wear down. the original owner changed the oil frequently.

i guess if it costs some more but im getting better oil and less changes than its worth it.

i appreciate the info and kind words lol
