yeah i rip each one out. especially on these diesels with a crappy vacuum pump and RABS systems
It is apparent from your post that A) you have never actually used one, B) you don't understand how they work, and C) you don't tow heavy loads.
If you ever haul heavy, especially on a downhill or icy stop, that inertial controller isn't going to give you the full braking you need, you'd be suicidal to use it hauling 15k on an icy road.
Don't believe me? Try it and nice knowing ya'. If you make it back, you'll be singing a different tune about your P3.
What do you think of the factory controller Ford uses? Or how about the Maxbrake or Brakesmart systems? Or even the Jordan 2020?
I will agree a time-delay controller sucks, but many people use them, and they are better than nothing, but in the above mentioned situation, they are better than your P3.
A Prodigy is one of the best INERTIAL type controllers, and they are easy for people to install, but that doesn't make them THE best controller.
If you're used to running a $30 wally-world special controller, and switch to a Prodigy, I understand how you'd think it was the greatest thing since peanut butter.
Currently, all of the above aftermarket controllers have gone away from a combination of patent purchases and lack of market for a $350+ controller. If you have an OBDII truck, the Direclink controller is a good option.
I can say that I have hauled both light and heavy with all of the above, and I know how they all work and react. Many will say "the P3 is the best" based on their subjective opinion of the highest level of technology they have owned, and although it might be the best for $150, it's far from the best.
Run a real controller, haul some real loads, and THEN post your opinion.
The biggest difference between the old KH units and the newer hydraulic units is how much fluid they take to activate. The KH uses to much to be used on an advanced ABS system, on our older trucks, they work fine.
As a side note:
If anyone has a Maxbrake system they pull off a truck and want to sell for $200, I'l buy it. I have another truck that could use one.
