Hey all,

I have someone who wants to buy my truck and although I'm on the fence about it if I sold it I would be able to get a SRW possibly 4x4 version which I would prefer.

Anyone able to give me an idea what she's worth? I paid $3500 a little over a year ago. I apologize if this isn't allowed. I couldn't remember.

Crew Cab Dually with GOOD tires.
7.3 ZF5
195k on the clock.
Fired right up at 10 degrees F earlier after running one glow cycle.

Driver's seat is a little rough, needs window motors. AC doesn't work but heat will smoke you out.

Paint is decent, damaged dually flare. Everything else works as it should.

Any ideas? I won't give it away but if it saves me a SRW swap...

If you have a older truck in New York that is not completely rusted out, it's got to be worth something reasonable up there. I am not sure how you are going to find a 4x4 up there that isn't full of holes at a reasonable price.

Well I flew out to Texas to bring this one home. I'd likely do the same again.

It was fun but if I do it again I'll make sure the heater works before I'm stuck in Ohio overnight with no money for a hotel in 40 degree weather!

I’d say from where I’m standing it looks like a $3700-4500 truck in your area, ac isn’t a necessity like it is here.

Just wondering: why do you want a SRW? Your truck is very sound and very clean for a Midwest truck (I grew up in Ohio, plenty of salty winters destroy nice older vehicles), it sounds like it made a pretty good long distance trip, and as the saying goes "the known bad of what you got is usually better than the unknown". Have you thought about doing a D60 and transfer case to build your rig into a 4WD dually? It would get you most of what you want, and the 4WD dually pretty much pegs the "cool" tachometer as there aren't too many around.

If you really want a 4x4, you should ignore everything I am saying and buy what you want!

In any case, I would think your truck would bring $3000 very quickly and $3500-4000 if you have plenty of staying power and can tolerate the Craigslist Flakes (they are in full force this season)

Either way: good luck!

Oh I certainly have considered it. If I don't sell it to this particular person I'll keep it and build it up. The primary issue for me is that any conversion parts I get will most likely be NY parts. Being from Ohio you know what I mean by that. Flakey, gross, reddish-brown and stubborn lol!

I don't know for sure about srw. It'd be nice to have 2 fewer tires to buy and I have a ding in one of the dually flares so I'll have to fix that anyway. Seems like it'll be cheaper to weld on srw wheel arches. Those dually flares are EXPENSIVE.

Might be cheaper to fly down here and pick up the parts you need in a uhaul and take em back to the land of salt!

That's not out of the question at this point either. It cost me around $300-400 in fuel to drive this pig up here, it'd probably be cheaper to do round trip in my truck than a plane ticket and a u-haul. I'd probably invest in an aux fuel tank though. I really hated driving 1600mi 10gal at a time! (Missing showerhead and unknown selector valve)

I wouldn't be afraid to buy a local D60 from your area: no matter where it came from, I think you'll end up going through the seals, u-joints, kingpins/balljoints, gearlube, etc before installing it under your truck so it's a known good unit.

Don't fix your dually flares: it seems like the more you care about them the more they get damaged. Stuff seems to jump out in front of the really nice dually fenders :D

I still vote for building your current rig into a "Bricknose SuperDuty" ;Sweet

On the other hand, if you are gonna sell it to a friend it's always OK to "keep it in the family"

An auxiliary tank is the way to go! I have one for long hauls. It drips into my front tank through a check valve that is in the filler hose connection. I dont keep it on the truck all the time, its aluminum and lightweight - 40gal. It has a gauge on it but i know when its empty because at that point the gauge in dash starts to drop.
