I always wanted to make on where it leads back to the oil pan with a one way valve or a valve to open when off to drain

I've seen people do those with the 6.2/6.5 diesel. Maybe some other engines also.
But the long story short was, most went back to a manual drain. Pretty nasty crap coming out.
Now maybe those people were doing shorter drives where the engine doesn't heat up all the way, I don't know.

So......
Looks like we're going to need a transmission. Lol
With having almost 213,000 miles, and not knowing if it was ever serviced, it may just be time. The 6L80's are pretty durable, but I have a hunch it was driving hard.

Found this on the dipstick.

That’s a shame, I’d try and put a new filter and flush the fluid, but you may prefer to just invest in a new tranny

At this point, I think a rebuild is the better option.
The shop I plan on going to, the guy said it's possibly not a trans issue. Said he had one the other day that ended up being a misfire. From my experience, this is beyond that. I already had a misfire and fixed that.

It doesn't feel like it slips, but it does kinda chatter. Like a clutch grabbing.
Which leads me to it could be the torque converter. On the Bronco 2 I had, it would try keeping the converter locked when coming to a stop. This gives similar every now and then. Be sitting at a stop and it'll dip down the engine like it's trying to lock up.

Well I can't say about a black bear tune on a 5.3, but they're more restricted from the factory than my 5.7 is. And I noticed a pretty decent improvement. Nothing bad to say about them. Justin helped me find the right tune when I swapped in a Manual too (Some issue with the first one).

I know our old 2.2 ecotec destroyed a throttle body due to the oil consumption. I would have put a catch can on it if we'd kept it.

I'm curious how you like the 6 speed. One of the guys at work complained it doesn't like to go 30, Always hunting. Of course, That's one of the many reasons I put a 5 speed in mine. I'd like to get an auto car or small truck/suv sometime, but towing or anything I like knowing it's in the gear I put it in. So many times it would shift just when I don't want it to and then it'd have to downshift again.

Looks like a nice Burb. I didn't like the new (07+) style at first, but it's grown on me.

I don't know about the 6L80E but the 4L80E there was some issue with converter lockup in the valve body on some years. The actual issue escapes me at the moment.

I tried doing some searching and didn't really see much.
Apparently most rebuilders do some upgrades while they're in there.

I do like the way the trans works. The early versions had that shudder at low speeds because it liked to try to hit high gear asap. They did a tune update that would hold the gears longer.
The tow/haul mode is great. Has a decently functional engine brake feature.
Then also has the manual mode where it'll stay in the gear you put it in.

Sounds a lot like what the guy at work was talking about.

Cool. Maybe when I can actually afford a newer truck I might like it. Curious to see what you post up for mileage. I see you have Fuelly in your Sig.

I was also curious why you're getting worse mileage than I am (f350), but when I looked at the vehicle profile I noticed it says 4x4.

My icp is unplugged and I'm always in the high tune also. Lol
Sitting steady at 13 in the burb.
I reckon I should add a fuely for it also.
