Oye. Vey
Can you verify the above statement please!
Uh... I'm doing it? On two different trucks?
Check my sig -
On my '93, pushing 12 psi, I've gotten 250RWHP, and that was with a bigger than stock IP(RD2-110), obviously turbo-limited.
It's still running the same way; pulls quite nicely, with little to no smoke... But this pump has a Hypermax smoke puff limiter on it which works wonders.
On my '92, I maxed the pump out, took it down to Hunting 4 Horsepower in September. Proceeded to get 200RWHP out of it, and about 7-9PSI of boost.
It would clean up around 2500RPM, flooring it. A bit lazy spooling. (*)
A week or two later, I found out why my boost on this rig was so low: the PO had forgotten to plug the CDR port at the back of the intake manifold, so I had a 1" boost leak.
I made a plug for it... Now it's pushing a bit over 15 when I floor it(Banks gauge only goes to 15), and it responds nicely.
Totally cleans up the maxed out pump over 2K, and it's hard to get much of any smoke except for a puff till the turbo spools if I really hammer on it.
Yes, flooring it at idle will definitely make some smoke, which is why I DON'T DO THIS.
(* I actually have video of this; I could probably upload it to youtube if needed).
So many variables here it’s kinda hard to make such a broad statement
Eh, that's why I'm being a bit conservative. I've been able to get the 200 RWHP number myself; have watched at least one other turbo IDI do it on the dyno, and have seen several other forumgoers claim it.
