94 CC LB 4WD fresh IDIT, the ZF shifts perfectly.
I have a weird vibration coming from either the front end or the clutch that I cant figure out.
atfirst I thought it was the downpipe, but shes pretty clear.
the sound is that of a bad bearing.
ive been through the front inner and outter bearings, and they looked decent.
its got a new clutch with a Kevlar bushing.
tires are the downside, 1 rim is off set, the other is less.
I plan on swapping the oddball to the rear, but the tread would be off, as the tires are worn.
but its what I have to work with.
the sound/vibration goes away when turning hard left.
it also goes away when I push in the clutch. same exact sound.
engine and transmission mounts are bran new.
leaf spring bushings do suck.
track bar seems ok.
body bushings are not blown out.
rear driveshaft has been rebuilt with new u joints and carrier bearing

think its tire related?

Driveline vibrations are booger.

no mufflers is going down the path I would recommend.

You probably already have though of this but really need to start isolating parts. I'd pull the front driveshaft and see if it changes. Sometimes front end stuff can be transmitted through the driveshaft making it hard to find. Next is to figure out if it's rpm based or speed based. Same speed different gears. Does it change. If it's strictly speed it's likely something down stream of trans. If rpm makes a difference then upstream.

Beat me to it the driveshaft.

Did you change the axle joints? I've seen them do some weird stuff when rusted up. Probably not an issue out there though.

its driving me nuts.
I did not replace the u joints in the front axle, they were both free, but solid.
it starts at about 25 mph, and is fairly constant.
only changes with the clutch, and a sharp left turn.
think im gonna try another set of rims and see if that changes things.

I thought maybe it was the inter cooler rubbin on the hood, but I hit the latch, hood came up against the safty latch, and the noise didn't stop..
what ****** me off more than anything is that I gotta ask online about a
G.D.
SOUND!

Front driveline is NOT installed.
So what unloads turning left?
What unloads when declutching?
2 separate questions.

Hmmmm interesting

Is your clutch fork making the noise and it's going away when you're turning because it's getting pushed in further?

I wonder if you're not feeling something from the rear end, whether it's a bearing, or even the pinion; perhaps the sharp turn, or putting the clutch in, unloads it. bah, no idea.

That's a head scratcher. Almost sounds like a Throw-out bearing. Press on the clutch and the sound goes away. But why the left turn deal? In a left turn, the top of the gear shifter would want to go to the passenger side...meh. Can you feel the vibration in the shift lever? 4x4 shift lever?
