Cummings 12 to a f450

i have a good ******* 12v engine I would like to put in a f450 or f550 ford truck , my question is there a year model that's best for this swap , both the trucks are 5 speed diesels one is a 1989 idi non turbo other is a 1996 powerstroke , any advice or comment welcome .

what year is the motor?

Will have to look to be sure the ford bus it's in is a 1990. , the trucks are 2wd .

if you want to do a legal 49 state swap, the motor must be the same year as the chassis or newer to be smog compliant. that might become an item of contention if you ever consider selling.
With the above in mind, your 1989 chassis would be a legal candidate for the swap.

The PSD truck will have good value on its own. I would convert the '89.

Adapters are available for the diesel ZF. You may want to regear the Dana 80 to 3.54, 3.73, 4.10 range.

Thanks guy , that is good info , I didn't know about the smog thing , I probably will go with the 89
