Time for an oil change

How many miles do you guys go on oil? I have not done any oil samples. But I do lots of bad things like short trips, idling etc.

The sticker says 2500 miles for severe service which is what I do but imo thats too soon. I been going 3500ish.

Pretty sure there's a sticker under my hood somewhere that recommends 5K intervals.

I use Chevron 15w40 (Delo?) because Costco sells it cheap, and i use the motorcraft FL1995 Powerstroke filter. No issues, and i don't ever need to top off between changes.

Fumoto drain valve is a nice addition, so long as you're down there.

I've been going around 3500ish oil changes on delo 15-40. Driving about the same short trips around town and occasional 50 mile drive. I have no science behind why I change that long but it's just where I feel is a good number between 2500 and 5000k oil it's better quality now days compaired to when our trucks were made

The sticker with the 5000 mile oil change interval is on the oil fill on the oil fill neck on the pre "87 6.9's and on the front cover on the injector pump gear housing on the '87 6.9 and all of the 7.3's unless it's been removed.

Well I ended up going with the Motorcraft FL-1995 oil filter and 11 quarts of Motorcraft 15w-40. They only had 7 quarts of the Delo 400 LE and a BUNCH of the Delo CK-4. I wanted CJ-4 so that was a deal breaker. Will be servicing the truck on Saturday.

ya mine says 2500 severe and 5000 regular. I definatly fall onto the severe catergory.

I change my oil once a year, I dont drive it that much. I usually change it before I put it away for winter, that way in the spring I can just drive.
