So what is the average mpg to for a 4x4 v10 crew cab? I know they are some of the more stout gassers. I have seen a few with 325k+ miles on them. What is everyone's opinion on them? Do you like them better than a similar truck with a 5.4?

Expect 8-10 MPG, be thrilled if it ever tops that. We have a mixed fleet of 7 with the 5.4 and 6.8. All of our trucks have between 200-400k miles on them. I've been very impressed with their longevity. Between the two, I have no preference.

That's what I was thinking they would get. I was wondering if they would get above 10mpg, because I know some people with dodge v10 4x4's, and that's what they get. I was wondering if the ford got a little better since the displacement is quite a bit smaller, (6.8l vs 8.0l).

I think he meant Excursion. The Excursion boards usually said low teens for the V10. Mid teens if you really babied it.

An expedition? Was it an engine swap? I didn't think the expeditions came with a v10? Do you possibly mean excursion?
I get the two confused all the time, wish they didn't use similar names for the two.
A friend has an expedition with a v-10 says he gets about 16 highway

I drive a 06 F350 4x4 with a utility bed 80 miles a day. Driving at 75 give or take on the highway the comp shows 11.3 mpg. A tad better than my 97 with the 460 by 2 mpg or so.

Update: both rear calipers were seized and the internal ebrake shoe on one side was set with the cable broke off.
Fuel milage should increase drastically i would think

I drive a '00 F-250 V10 5speed (yes 5, not 6) 2WD with 3.73 gears. Its an extended cab long bed with 183,000 on the clock. My daily commute is about 55 miles with speed limits anywhere between 25 and 60 MPH. I've been checking it pretty religiously, and its resting at a pretty consistent 13MPG. Road trips it gets 15-15.5 MPG and none of that is "babied" driving nor is it WFO. For as big as that engine is, and as peppy as the truck is, I'm very pleased.
