about 9 years ago I needed the hot wheel and shaft. Seems something went thru my turbo and damaged the hot wheel. Sadly these are made as one piece. you can't buy just the hot wheel or the shaft. They are hard to find REAL oem parts too. The shop doing this rebuild for me finally found the shaft and wheel. It was nearly a 6 month wait. Lucky for me I had bought a spare turbo from Banks. I too tried to buy parts but they stiffed me on that. The shop was very good rebuilding my turbo too. I think I was about $350.00 including labor on it but its been some years back too. Now the really sad information about al this. Mitsubishi makes this turbo. If you have a part number they will sell directly to you from Japan. THEY WILL NOT LOOK UP ANY PART FOR YOU. You have to know the part number when you order from them. Hows that for a crappy customer service. Best contact Mel and see what he can do for you. There is no BS from Mel. Ebay sources will sell you crap telling you its the oem stuff so be cautious.

I experienced hard to find parts with my wastegated banks as well. The builder finally did find the part; took him about a month of looking. Turbo had eaten a screw. Now that I'm seeing all this, I wish I had asked what his source was. The parts seem to exist, sometimes, and briefly when they do. It's a shame too cause the kit is a pretty nice setup. As mentioned above there are two guys on here who are most likely to be able to find parts. One already said to talk to him. I would try that route.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh CRAP..

The new truck I just bought has a Sidewinder.. lucky me.. I get to do a head gasket on it.. so turbo has to come off.. Looks like I'll be giving it the old inspection while it's off..

Oh my.. Are you in for a job first timer. Removing a wastegated sidewinder turbo is a job I do not look forwards to doing. Watch the 4 nuts that holds the turbo to the header pipe collector. On mine I had to tilt the turbo just to get the nuts off. Going back on is a treat too. Best thing I invented was electrical tape the nut in the socket. Otherwise it falls out when you tip the socket over to the stud. I also use a 3/8 drive socket set because it fits in there easier. Getting under to loosen the oil drain is tuff too as is the rear mounting bolt to the bell housing side. There is plenty more but this post will get way too long if I talk about all of it here.

im not worried about it ive fit a holdset between a 2.0 block and the stock cooling fan on a '95 talon/eclipe, ive put a 4.0 northstar in the 01 olds aurora application. The engine bay on this even with the trubo almost sitting in the cab hahaha isnt to bad ;Sweet

btw petrolium jelly is a good trick like your electrical tape trick for things your worried about getting the tape stuck in like injector washers and such. thanks for the tips

oh and btw i see youve done the sidewinder run a round how did that go for you? how did you fix your turbocharger in the end?

So i called banks to banks and told them straight they are missing out on cash by not offering parts. The dude said they send thier personal turbos and company/shop turbos to Tubo Exchange in concorde NC 704-721-6661. He said thwy dont do any work on them so they stock no parts

the parts can be identified but banks holds the legal rights to everything, monopolizing there product........ ;Sweet talk about a company with $$$ on the mind before customers and performance

gary-
big hint.....raise the cab high enough to slip 4x4 blocks between the cab body and cab mounts and that will give you all the room in the world :D

Calvin. I have never tried raising the cab but have worked around doing this too long. Probably will do that next time for sure. What I did do that really helps is change the u bolt clamp on the down pipe to straight pipe. Its not a band type stainless steel clamp jointing these 2 pipes. I just loosen the band and the down pipe is free to move anywhere. No more dented pipe inside the straight pipe making for a miserable removal mess.
