AutoZone can't get the 'turn signal cam' for 30 days, their supplier is out of stock.

My local Advance said their warehouse has almost 50 of the little buggers > just gotta pre-pay and they'll have it next day.

Again, so thankful to the fellas that provided the links and, that I don't have to purchase the entire wire loom.

BUMMER...
just spent a few hours removing and carefully soldering in the new Dorman/Advance Auto turn signal cam...now the left signal sticks-on, and the right doesn't hold at all. BTW, it's made in Twain.

Lucky me, gets to dig into it again!

Doesn't appear this Dorman Cam (made in Taiwan) is going to work, the cam-hooks just don't engage enough to HOLD the turn signal lever in position.
The Dorman 'cam hooka' arn't long enough to grab and lock/hold in place like the OE/ford cam...it barely grabs it.

Advance Auto is getting me another Cam tomorrow...hopefully the hooks on that cam are a tad longer and will engage and HOLD as it should.
If not...again I'll have to spend another $80 at Ford and buy the entire set-up, wires, backing plate and all.

Update...
and something to take note of...

I make a call to Shee-Mar and spoke to a very nice fella, when I told him I have the Dorman cam, he almost knew what I was going to say next.
He confirmed the the Dorman Cam won't work, he knew the 'hooks were too short' because, it's just tooled wrong...made in China.

He stated that he (Shee-Mar) actually makes their products and their cam not only has the correct OE Ford colored wires but, it's tooled correctly and WILL work.

Then, he also stated, Rock Auto carries the Shee-Mar product under the name " OE Pro"

I just ordered Cam #SM-16 from Rock Auto (same part number as Shee-Mar) and it should be here in a few days.

Cost with shipping...$3 dollars more than the 'Made in China' crap from Advance Auto/Dorman.

I just hope the damn cam works!

BTW, Advance Auto won't refund the Dorman Cam because, it's an "electrical part that was put in use"
I told the guy..."you can't tell it won't work until it's installed"
Next step, I'll be talking to a store manager!

if it's your '92, it's a different setup. OBS trucks use a module. bend over and grab your **********. they're expensive. I've learned the '99 and up doesn't interchange with the 92-97 either.

UPDATE...
firstly, very impressed with my first-time dealings with Rock Auto > shipping was fast, part was at my door in a day and 1/2!

Sadly, the Shee/Mar turn-signal cam was only 'slightly better' than the Dorman Cam, in that, it just doesn't want to hold the 'right' turn signal in position...and this was on two OE Ford backing plates. The problem is, the right side 'hook' (lever up) simply doesn't grab or should I say fully-engage as the left/bottom hook does.
The rep at Shee-Mar agreed, the Ford 'cam' design isn't his favorite.

Maybe for a replacement cam to properly work, EVERYTHING must be new and perfect...however I couldn't see or measure ANY wear on the OE Ford backing plates.
That being said I wasted too much time messing around with this problem and I wouldn't recommend just replacing the cam.

So again, I spoke to both sales reps of Shee Mar and Rock Auto, both were great to deal with and they fully understood and agreed with my description of the problem and, my credit card will be fully credited for the part + shipping.

*What I will be doing is ordering a complete switch part #SM66F (wires and all) from Rock Auto.

i love rock auto. i buy from there usually when im not in a hurry.... ive spent way to much money with then but im sure ive saved as much as ive spent.

i outfitted my F250 with complete brakes (pads,shoes,rotors,drums, rear self adjusters...rear spring kits, rear wheel seals, and rear wheel cylinders) for less then $350....and all name brand stuff.

I just replaced my turn signal switch with that same part. Make sure the screw at the 9 o clock position is turned down and the two light blue wires have clearance from the back of the wheel. After installing it I kept burning a fuse and didn't realize that the assembly was sticking out a few mm too far forward. The wheel and unbundling takes the longest but it's an otherwise straightforward task.

RockAuto is my preferred supplier. I always go to them first as long as I don't need the part today. About half the stuff I get from them they ship USPS Priority Mail and I get it in 2 days. Their prices are usually much lower as well. Latest example - I sent my nephew there to get upper control arms for his 2006 F150, Moog parts, at Advance they are $125 each, at RockAuto, $42 each.
