Sold the truck......

I could take my dads power stroke, the truck hauling the van in my sig, but I cant fit enough people in it.

That was the point of getting the van, haul people and stuff....

**** that's just a wee bit of guide wear not much there at all...IMHO Guess gotta see if I can do that on the effed head n see if it shows how bad, bad can be.

That appears to be the start of a bad situation however not a bad one yet.

If you can get that piston to TDC you should be able to remove the spring and have a better look at it. These springs are really not that hi pressure so a small compressor is likely enough the all in one over valve spring type like I show here

That would allow in vehicle use and such.

I have one of these along with a few other compressors, this one works on our engines I know I've used one on mine!

This would allow change of valve seals too.

IT IS CRITICAL to get piston to TDC or you could drop the valve and be effed.

I pulled the valve cover in about an hour, I think the heads will come out a lot easier on this older van than the 92 up

Yeh, been wondering if the nice folks at Ford made the engine compartment smaller on the 92+. Have to take a tape measure next time I go to PicknPull.

This is the passenger/right side... which is the side with more space to work! Dang! Valve covers did NOT come out; this one was snagged farther forward.

Wished I had an "F" right about now....

Well i'm no expert either, but that doesn't seem like all that much play to me. Replace the stem seals and see what happens?

I think the pre 92 vans have a little more room, but not that much more. The biggest challenge of getting the heads off with the engine still in the van is getting everything lined up when reinstalling the head I think. You have to put the bolts in before you start putting the head into position. Maybe you could tape them about half way up so they stay out of the way?

Watch the video in the link....duh...... :)
Oh....didn't see the link last time, I used to use photobucket for vids but they won't embed so I stopped....

Now having seen it, ya it's about time to replace it.

I wouldn't say it was as bad as mine but that's really bad for certain.

Thus I've come to the conclusion that if you hear chuff chuff when idling it's borrowed time for sure.

This is my own drawn theory here now so to each their own.

Thanks for sharing that too btw!;Sweet

Well, there's your problem right there. I know you didn't want to take it that far, but I bet you are glad you did.

Enjoy your sip and save some for when you have to get it back together.
