Where does that air intake pipe go? I see it turn down but Im trying to figure out where its going

Also welcome to the club!!!

This is just my opinion, but get that truck running good, and drive it for awhile then upgrade it. That way when you upgrade you can really feel the difference and appricate the money and hard work that went into it.

Thanks for the info guys! A friend of mine looked at the pic and said he thought it might have an air-to-air intercooler the way that the pipe coming down from the hat box looked, not positive though. I would like to have a custom fabbed intake with open filter to replace the hatbox sometime. yes it is almost rust free other than a few specs up front and in the bed. The c6 should run for a long time considering they had it beefed up pretty well...I wish it had the zf5 though!

zf5 is a pretty easy swap. The truck is not intercooled, the intake hat your friend is refering to is from the ATS kit and the kit isnt intercooled. An intercooler kit will change that piece out obviously, as you would need to run the hot compressed air from the turbo through the intercooler THEN back into the intake manifold, your engine bay is absent of intercooler piping, the intake hat required for intercooler piping, and (I am just assuming this I have only laid eyes on a customers OBS powerstroke with an intercooler kit) a reclocked turbocharger intake housing, to allow for the corresponding intercooler piping.

I would also hesitate to claim the C6 is built because of the previous owner claming that an intercooler kit was on the truck. That is not to say that it isn't though, as this is one of those, the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absences type situations, or however that saying may go if I am typing it incorrectly

2nd time saying this, still a nice truck, I paid 1300 for mine, another 300 in tow fees and then 800 for my ATS 093 factory kit locally, so all and all my 1984 F250 XLT extended cab long bed 2wd truck has cost me 2400, so do the math on your truck vs mine, I don't think the extra inches in the cab is worth 1400 dollars.

Like I said not sure at all about an intercooler. Ive never seen one on a 6.9l so I have no idea lol. The c6 was definitely built because it was a local diesel shop that did the work on it and I know it is quality work. I will be very happy with the truck either way....well whenever I can get another battery for it lol! Now about the intake...is it simple for a fabrication shop to make a custom intake pipe for this? I just feel like the box restricts air flow..

check out my list of threads in my profile for an option for an intake for your truck. i used some left over 4" exhaust tubing and an AEM dry element filter. has been doing GREAT for nearly a year now. I also have ZERO, not a speck, ZILCH, NOTTA speck of dust in the intake tube or turbo(and i would see it because of my CCV LOL).

Could I pick up some 4" steel piping from a home improvement store and some 45* elbows and just use that the same? What did u use to clamp to turbo and filter??

In my opion.. exhaust does not have to be huge. Sometimes too big will make it resonate in the cab or just sound weird...

4inch max. Our turbos dont push alot of boost.

Id go 3.5 to 4
