Well, when I FIRST installed my single mass, I had a lot louder, nastier gear clash than I do currently, took about 500 Miles to settle down, but ALWAYS went away with the clutch in, and I don't think that is happening right now for him.

Is it worse than the other day? All I heard was gear clash for the trans, but maybe I wasn't listening for the right noise...

Yeah Ryan it was worse and probably more so because my wife was with me, she heard it and kept joking about what a POS the truck is. By the time we got back from costco, I was just slightly pissed off at her and the truck!

I'm going to pull the inspection cover off today and see whats going on.

I did have trouble with my inspection cover hitting the cast-in counterweight on the flywheel. I forgot to mention that. My inspection cover is on a shelf in the garage right now, since I'll hopefully have the trans out again soon to replace it. I'll "massage" it so it clears the flywheel when I reinstall everything...

Have you checked the pivot ball for the throwout fork? I had a strange noise when the clutch was released going down hill in low gear before, when I pulled the fork out while the engine was out I found that someone had not got the retention clip seated BEHIND the ball, but instead the fork had been compressing the clip, but when everything was at rest the fork was able to vibrate around and make all kinds of horrible noises.

I replaced the fork with a spare unit and problem solved...

Giggle the fork and see if it's loose on the pivot ball.

Good luck!

I'll climb back under there tomorrow and check. Thanks.

I can't throw stones. I look for the next key when I'm spelling something I post. I sometimes look up to see all caps... That usually happens after the good wifey has used my computer and not put it back the way she found it. No amount of teling her to stop doing that has worked. She is my cross to bare but its getting really heavy these days.. I need a vacation... ALONE...
