Even with splits the extra fuel will help, those are very close to Superduty injectors as Im sure you know and a tuned Superduty is a decent mover. The .84 exhaust housing helps too.

Buying a PSD CCSB part two:
So I had the wife convince with a little "tuning" the PSD would be even better than the IDI. So we decide to see what we can get for a trade in and go for it. So we're talking about it with the owner of the lot and my wife insists she drive the 90 before she makes an offer. She (the lot owner) and the wife go for a little drive, and she says to the wife "what is so special about this truck" Tells her jump on it and build the boost up to 15 or so...........carlot lady get big grin and says "ohh, I see" then proceeded to blow a red light since she was hauling a$$. After nearly getting them both killed she offered us a big trade in whch we took, and the lot owner kept our old IDI truck for herself!

my 96 is a cali truck, has 130cc splitshots.
Yeah I don't get why the "emissions" version were bigger, but I do get the splitshot part.
And yes, the SD injectors are only 5-10cc's bigger, so pretty close really.

Also the cali version has that weird solenoid thing on the fuel pump. I bet it limits fuel or something. (Not really sure, haven't seen it discussed)

If you are talking about the round saucer / dome on the mechanical fuel pump, it is a pulse dampener made necessary by the split shot injectors causing twice as many pulses in the fuel system.

thanks man! its a fun truck, i love the 67-72 bumps. did your 69 have a 7.3 also?

Well it did for a little bit. It started out with a 460 then I put a 93 7.3 motor on because I thought it would be cool. Only thing is I bought the motor without seeing it run and it either had bad head gaskets or severe cavitation. So I ended up putting a 300 straight six in it and sold the truck because the cab was shot. Should have kept it though it was a short bed regular cab 4x4.

they might feel like turds driving them like a hotrod, but they are NOT hot rods. The difference between an obs stroke and an NA idi with ANY load (at least at this elev.) is pretty huge.

Could not agree more!!! As much as I like the idi's, they just don't compare when pulling heavy. I also never treat diesels as a hot rod, because they aren't. But they will sure out perform any "hot rod" when put to work.....no doubt

Of course there is no comparison to an N/A IDI to a Powerstroke towing :shaking: hang a decent turbo on an IDI against a stock Stroker and pull the same hill and it might be a little more fair.

Also if you were to see a few 500-1200 horse trucks perform in person your "not a hotrod" opinion might adjust a little.

Yep. Like these new trucks with the deletes and a tune make crazy power.
Even a stock 6.7 psd hauls ass.
Yep, 750hp 6.4 TOW RIG with an enclosed trailer, following a 1200hp Duramax race truck. The Duramax got better mileage even, tuning is a wonderful thing.

Oh there's no doubt, one of my buddys street drives his 1000 horse 12 valve, but its not very streetABLE. Whereas a 1000 horse Duramax for example has no problem running to the grocery store
