Any one use a davco sight glass o-ring for the turbo hat to intake seal?

I'm just wondering cause it fits pretty well on the intake and am thinking about throwing one on my truck to see if it holds up to the 20#'s I can build. I do realize the original is square cut, but if these will work I got extras and can share the wealth. So that being said any one do this and how did it work out?

Haven't had a issue blowing out the original o-ring with the exception of one time if that's what your getting at.

All I was getting at is I pm trucks and we have the square o-rings from the davco filter. We throw them out BC we use the o-ring like you show. So I may have them and didn't know it LOL

Well FML, should have worded it that way the first time lol :flipa
All ours are not square cut, all the fleet guard stuff we carry has reg old o-rings. I guess if I'm motivated this week I'll slap one in and put it to the test on my way home at night when the air is nice and cool.

Tonight I'll check to see how it fits. I'll check the kit number.

I just ordered some square cut o-rings from McMaster-Carr. They have every size you could ever need, and you can get them in Viton so they're oil-resistant.

I appreciate the tip, the reason I was asking though is cause I just toss these things at work. So if they work, why not put them to use? They're free.

The o-ring looks like it'll cut the second you tighten it down, no groove for it to sit in. The square cut one tho, that might work.

I use a custom made gasket from a material I had at the machine shop but this opening is a stock quadrajet 4 barrel size. I think its 5 or 5 1/4 inch diameter. I use a coating of RTV on both sides of it just for insurance. If it leaks you loose boost and oil goes everywhere.

Already posted a thread a week or two ago about pushing out the gasket :rotflmao

I'm not all that sure it'll cut, I had to somewhat stretch it over the lip, I kinda think it'll flatten out, forgot i had a extra hat laying around, guess I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. It'll either work or it won't :dunno Not like I'm out any thing.

No worries Alan, ask away.

So it did not cut. I suspect though had the hat had a groove it would have been susceptible to do so as this is a fairly thick o-ring and would not sit in any groove that could be put in the hat safely with a acceptable amount of material left. I cranked the bolt down to the point I was more concerned about the hard parts then the seal. Only thing left is to see how it does with pressure on the back side trying to push it out.
