Help me decide what batteries to buy.

I need new batteries. I have 4 year old Federals, re badged Deka's. These have been 100% discharged more than once and have bounced back. I can't really complain about them.

Option 1: buy another set of Federal/Deka batteries from a private dealer that will deliver them to my door at a reasonable cost. This guy is honest and backs his product.

Option 2: Get off of some coin and get the Diehard badged Odyssey's from Sears. These are supposed to be all that, someone please tell me more about them.

Option 3: I have an Interstate dealer locally, I can get the Economy series for about $38 each. Cheap and comes with a 6 month replacement warrenty. I have had good luck with these batteries in the past.

Option 4: Buy the new Interstates. I think I rather get the Federals over this option.

Option 5: Open to suggestions.

I am sticking with the standard size standard post battery, don't have time to do anything else at the moment. I have had bad luck with Optima's and really don't think they are all that.Give me some thoughts guys........

Not have used any of those batteries before, so no input there John.

But, I've been using CAT batteries for years in my trucks. CAT dealer is here in town and they have been good for me. I suspect that most batteries come from a few places with different badging. So as long as they are a good brand, you'll be good to go.

I have run two sets of the interstates in my truck. They are not the economy ones and they cost about $80.00 each. May have to go look at them and repost what they are..

Honestly I've had good luck with the Autozone gold group 27s..... Surprising since most things from there are junk, but they seem to work well.

Ive got 2 deka gp 31's either 700amp or 900 cant remember but either way I havent had any problems with them. Even with a bad voltage regulator and a bad altenator.
Several things to take into consideration about automotive batteries
There only 3 or 4 suppliers that actually manufacter these batteries
The lower the CCA amp battery the lead plates are thicker so they are less prone to internal damage such as shorting out or plates breaking.
The rest of the compaines out there that sell batteries just rebrand them like walmart, oreillys,etc.

don'r remember what brand they are off the top of my head, but i got a pair of 950cca(the best cca i could find in the area) batteries from sams club. they have a 7 year warranty.

Last interstate I had lasted almost 10 years on the truck along with a advance auto on the same size, I USED this batteries and they never gave up I finally bought new ones bc I was afraid they would quit at the worst time I choose G31 from the local truck shop at $86 each. Been using this batteries for about 3 years on one of My other trucks and now on My 93 for a while, can't complain they worked excellent so far. Making the switch to G31 takes some work but worth it IMHO.

Also don't think high CCA's are best, they have more kick (at lower temps) but the juice runs out faster and the battery doesn't last as long as one equal but with less CCA's.

I think those are what I have. Well I have one, not sure on the brand of the other. But they've held up to a lot of cranking.
They've been in three different trucks.
The 79 c30 with the 350 for a year, the 6.2 for another year.
The 88 f250 for awhile.
And now in my 94.
They seem to hold their charge for awhile.

Yes I know, don't mix batteries. But I'll fix that one day.

interstate..all across the usa,,and any new batt you buy,,is fresh...its all i will run anymore,,after having not good luck with many other brands.....

I run Kirkland (Costco) batteries in all my vehicles. No complaints.

i run kirkland bats in my truck as well. they are working great. only been in for a touch over a year so can't comment on life span, but there are times(pretty much every time i am at school lol) i will sit in the truck at school for about 3 hours with the radio on and engine off and even in the cold the engine cranks over just fine.

Interstate is all I have ran besides the wal-Mary stuff an they work really well I got about 8 years outta first interstate set came in truck. I ran wal-Mary for 2 years alt. reg all hit the dumpster an ruined the set. I had enough cash on me then to break for the interstates an there 1 yr old an are workin great. They have to bounce backs from zero charge.
