Man these things are heavy!!

I have pulled many engines before, but never one of these until yesterday. I was cruising around at the local u pull it parts place when a large aluminum rear differential cover caught my eye under a f-350. Then I walked around to the front and opened the hood. There sat a Complete 94 model idi with a complete banks turbo kit installed. I went and asked what the price would be for ALL of it. Accessories and all. $400 and an afternoon later, she is in the back of my truck. Mileage is unknown, so the engine is a rebuilder, but now I have one I can rebuild without taking my truck off the road for that long.

I got all the up pipes and down pipe, and everything else a banks kit comes with, except for the banks trans command that my manual just wouldn't need. I also left a really nice core support there, and a pretty new Jasper tagged e4od there. I'm thinking about going back after the core support. If anyone near central arkansas needs it, I can tell you where it is!

I also picked up that rear end cover for 9 more dollars. It is a Mag-Hytec cover. Apparently pretty expensive. I'm happy at 9 dollars for it.

I'm excited about this banks turbo. I really wanted a Hypermax, but for the price of this setup, I couldn't turn it down. The turbo is a te06h model waste gated kit. Is this a good kit to have? It seems to have no play in the shafts or bearings. I think the kit didn't have many miles on it either, all the exhaust bolts were easy to take off, and the exhaust pipes slipped right apart as well.

The Diff cover and engine and turbo and and and...where a steal..you should have grabbed the transcommand, I'd be happy to have said unit! As well others here too would likely enjoy it.

Just sayin

LOL, I'm starting to collect for the Bronco, I'm going E4OD so superwifey can drive it too...SAD but I gotta compromise! Means locating engine trans for it now since I already CHOSE NOT to swap in the one from White Rhino! LOL

I know where a truck is with rebuilt engine /auto trans, shot 4x4 chicken wing front end they want to be rid of...bout 800 bucks I get it...so working towards that deal.

I keep hoping to luck into a turbo like that, good job. I probably would have missed the diff cover and took the at commander for an OB goodwill. Course that would mean I would need to have the good tires on the running truck....

That turbo is no longer any good. Please send it to me as I need another door stop...:D:angel: Actually the only way this would have been a bad deal is the engine is stuck cause a rod or valve dropped.. Even then it can be saved sometimes. I saved the engine I have now when it thru a rod out the saide. It chipped the liner at the bottom and broke thru the oil pan just under the rail.. It did not throw the rod off the crank. It was still connected to the crank. No oil pressure loss either. Nothing wrong with the bearing. Just a slight tig weld to close up the pan. All this was hidden from me with plenty of dirt and oil. The guy I bought it from up on the victorville desert told me it had high miles from running back and forth to tijuna and the desert. The guy was a puts *********.. A member here said I should have rebuilt it and drove back up ther and tell the guy thats for the great engine for $88.50. All I did was paint it and install it.. Runs great buddy...;Really:sly Anyway, you got a hell of a deal. An idi turbo engine I'm thinking with a Banks wastegated complete turbo and pipes. Now if you can post up the block serial numbers that are located to the drivers side of the injection pump gear cover on that flat area we can tell you if the engine is a turbo engine but.. Really no way to be sure even if the numbers tell us its a turbo. These engines can be rebuilt as a non turbo engine by changing the rods to non turbo rods... Same goes for a non turbo engine... Just changing the rods makes a non turbo engine a turbo upgraded engine plus a few small other changes.... Once again really nice score you have there.. Enjoy the teardown but please take pics as your taking parts off. Then download them to the computer. That way we can see them to answer any questions. These engines are all gear driven from the crank to the injection pump. They normally wont be worn enough to replace. The oil pumps in them are better than the melling replacement pumps. Many rebuilt engines have a lower than expected oil pressure making the builders feel they did something wrong.... Well they did by not replacing the rear oil coler header with the oil pressure regulater spring and valve in it.. That spring rubs on the sliding valve and thins out to about 1/2 the wire thickness. So oil pressure is going to be lower... No springs are available either.. Yet. So buying a rear header is the only way to be sure the oil pressure is going to be higher than what you had. Some of us have removed the spring and shimmed it up to increase pressure with great results too. About 70 thousands works well. Its a tuff job but good idea for better oil pressure..

justinnray - I would be interested in the second Transcommand unit you have for my E4OD too. Of course, Al has first dibs. Superwifey needs her truck with the E4OD!

I had a 96 f-350 that I put one in.......less than stunning. I could tell it was there, it shifted a little harder and held gears a little longer at full fuel, but not enough of a change to justify the price imo. It also locked up the converter sooner too I think, been a while. My 5 sp always shifts when I think it should so I tried to forget about the e4od mess.

Stiffer shift, and holds gear longer. Not an 'oh my god' change, but it was a special when I got it, twice accidentally.
