Hey guys. i am looking at another IDI

94 f350 4wd IDI N/A auto XLT reg cab long box
170k. Rotten above bed wheel wells and rusty fenders(comes with rust free fenders)Supposedly bad GPs.(starts fine after being plugged in) Has a Meyers plow set up but no blade. He is asking $1100. What do you think it would be worth for resale with GP issue fixed? Trying to make some $$ while laid off

Pics would be better since theres rust, and just to get a better idea of the overall condition.

A little off topic but when you mentioned plugging in to get it started I had a newb question pop up, do/can you start the truck with it still plugged in or should you unplug it before starting?

It can stay plugged in while starting. All it does it warm the coolant which in turn warms the block for easier starting

Well the Meyer stuff is worth about $5 to me lol, but some people think they're good plows. So the hydraulics and pump frame may be worth something.

Clean it up. Test glow plugs, if they're bad put new ones in for $100 Put it up for sale for $3,500 obo. Then if you sell it for $3000, or $2500, you did just fine.

If all else fails part it out. you could almost match what you paid by selling the front axle.

The problem with the Meyer plows was that they had the electrical solenoids on the pump and that would lead to salt water getting in them.

The one thing to check is to see how it starts when cold and if it will stay running. Since the GP'S are not working you could use a small shot of ether but just to be safe disconnect the GP relay or leave the ignition on for two minutes before spraying and then cranking with the ether. If it fires up cold and shuts right off then you have an air leak issue to chase down.

Still $1100 isn't bad and I bet if you were to go over their with $1000 in cash the seller would probably take it. As others have said the parts alone if you had to part it out you would get your money back and still make some profit. A good idea would be that if you were to part it out have buyers lined up for the parts first since your not working and don't want to keep the money tied up to long.

Yeah. I am not a fan of meyers JUNK either. But I know where a 8' meyers blade is for $100. I am sure once snow flys , as a plow truck I would be worth some more $$ but i want to make a quick buck.. I will be getting more info on the truck tonight.

I have a couple irons in the fire on quite a few trucks, i just dont want to spend all my money on good deals and be stuck with them

If it were close to me I would buy it without seeing it for that price! I can never come across good deals like that!

Good Job.

How much are you looking to make? If you fixed the wheel wells, hung the fenders and just painted the repair spots, added gp's, It would have to go for $22-2400 in another month or so.......if thats all it needs.:dunno

The front axle is worth the asking price in offorad circles for sure. Doesn't sound bad for an entire truck.
