Yea I'm thinking ill look for about that too, its mainly going to be a tow rig and truck puller. Definately going to look for detroit lockers for it. I'm hoping for a 5 speed trans too. Doesn't matter if its OD or not.

The guy uses the travelette everyday and has gone on several 800 mile trips. he says he would trust it, he greased the bearings and relaced all the fluids. I think ill figure out my route and post a roadtrip thread to get some contacts and help along the way incase I have any snags.

I'm pretty sure its a complete running engine. I have to look into it, all the local ones and ones on ebay are on the $2200+ range.

Jon, I'm looking at 3.55 gearing for the axles. I'll have to see what's available as far as axles for the carrier (will change with 3.55) with that gearing. And, what carrier I can get in a locker/LS. But, with the torque of the DT466 and the low 1-3 of the Eaton Fuller, I can easily get away with taller gears if needed.

If the Travelette is in good shape, I'd be temped to just fly there and drive back. What a hoot that'd be.;Sweet

$1500 is a bit higher than I paid. I pick mine up for less than $900 and Darrin Tosh picked it up for me in MI and I met him in Cincinnati to help him buy a truck and swapped the DT from his truck to mine then. Make sure you get everything with the DT from the starter all the way to the motor mounts. That kind of stuff will nickle and dime you to death.

The injection pump on this thing is bigger than my dad's lawnmower engine I think

True Jon. The shipping is a huge cost on a engine that size. I got lucky with Darrin living so close to the seller and him buying a truck in Southern OH.

Just a little update on a slow moving project. Saturday, I was in Mayfield, KY for the Ken-Ten Charity truck and tractor pull. My tractor pulling buddy (Brad) was there. He and his father were pulling. Anyway, he has found a T18A95 turbo with updated thrust bearings for me. That will be my large top charger for the twin setup.:peelout

I'll have to sort out injectors at a later time, but I'm looking seriously at Wimer's in PA to build those. Also, I'm looking for a SCS transfer case. A used one that is 2x4/4x4 selectable is rare! I'll likely have to buy a new unit.:puke:

Now, this project is once again on the back burner until I can pull and rebuild the 6.9 in my crew cab this fall/winter. But seeing all those modified DT's over the weekend has me fired up!

So what are your plans with the 6.9 in your CC? Are you going to put the Moose Pump and injectors on it? How much boost? Details man... :sly

Do you have a thread about how you're going to stuff this in your truck? The few i saw they had to move the radiator and everything.

I'd love to have a DT466 in a crew duallie.... :D

My 6.9 seems to have a bad headgasket. Likely a defect in one or more of the firerings. Those dang Victor Reinz gaskets were supposed to be top quality. I'll pull it and will likely rebuild the whole thing, maybe with a typ4 cam, 7.3 rockers, but, nothing crazy. Yeah, I want to Moose it, but we'll see how much $ I have left after the rebuild.

Not planning on moving the rad. I'm planning on modifying the firewall instead, that and swapping from four rows of v-belts to a single serp belt. I may need to mod the trans tunnel as well to properly fit the Fuller 6 speed.

Don't you have a Moose pump and Moose injectors on the engine you are pulling out of the single cab? Or is it a different single cab you are putting the dt466 in? I guess I'm confused. Haha

Yeah, I'm putting it in the F250 in my signature. I may require Moose fuel in the crew cab before I'm ready to repower the F250. I guess what I'm trying to say is...... If I need a new IP before I start the DT466 swap, I'll be going with Moose fuel.:D

Speaking of hot IP's. Brad's (the tractor puller friend of mine) new IP can put out 2000+ cc of fuel and the timing is set at 49-50 degree's BTDC!!!! 200+ psi of boost isn't enough to even begin to clear the smoke out of the stack!:hail

Yeah, I've got a plan, I just wish I had more time to start the build. Anyway, here is the T18A95 turbo I'm going to use for the top (big) charger.

Digging this one out of the weeds for a little update. Talked with my tractor pulling buddy in Arkansas. I'm heading out his way next weekend to pick up my T18A-95 top charger for the DT466.

The crew cab's 6.9 rebuild has really taken all my time, efforts, and toy money from the DT project. But, it is still alive, just on the back burner for a bit.LOL
