Nice to read whats been going on for some time. I to am interested in an update on this. Sounds like some great ideas going around this valve spring and roller rocker idea. I'm thinking a roller rocker would really release some hp because of the reduced internal drag that present with the setup we use now.

well the psd valve spring i put it on a parts motor and it worked i cycled it over and all but never ran
but others here are running a very similar aftermarket spring so similar i dout its validity that its for the idi not the psd
i found better pushrods rockers and valve springs now im now looking into valves but im gonna pull the nmb2 thing here till i find it all out and test it
im house hunting right now i got one in mind that may go through soon if so its got a 40x20 garage all the space ill need i will be building a motor that will blow minds

but itll have a high lift cam and better ratio rockers and the cam may even have some overlap to give that scaveging effect gimme more stuff to find guys
i even figured out how to get a 6.9 piston on a turbo rod

You at least have to tell us what you did to solve the turbo rod+ 6.9 piston quandry. We understand you want to hang onto some of your build secrets till its done so no one will beat you to it.

well with my turbo build thread others are trying which is fine but my hx is all theroy and im doing that for the 7.7 stroker
but for the rods its going to take some custom work on them weld and machine the shop knows details but itll run me 300 for the set done completely

For now I mostly wanted to know about the valve springs, I no longer have my 6.9 (moment of silence) but am in the market for another.

well I want to know about the valve springs too... I have been workin on a new cam profile and need a little more valve spring pressure to keep the valves from floating. The computer dyno uses the wieght of the valve components to calculate the chance of valve float. The new profile starts to float stock valve springs at 3400. I need to find a spring that can fit without machine work. looks like I need to try the lunati specs on the dyno and see if that will do it. nice find, saves me some time lookin for springs.

well psd springs are much stiffer and i think theyll give us a good 1000 rpm more more detail to come

how hard are the valve springs to change? id be glad to test em out when i get my truck. would i need any other upgrades to run them? i know theres no gauruntee that it wont mess up my engine. im thinking of buying a 6.2 gov spring for more rpms too so that would be good to see if it holds.

well a gm spring will be needed duh
but id recomend pushrods at the least too and lifters
you see a higher pressure spring will stop float yes but more pressure can hurt lifters and collapse them also bend pushrods
our lifters arnt bad you could run them on a new motor with no oiling issues but a worn tired leaky motor i wouldnt try it thats why they went into the parts motor not my running one
but after this turbo gets on and i get a garage ill be building an idi that most wont reconize here

I wouldnt worry too much about collapsing mechanical roller lifters, pushrods would be a good idea though

our lifters are the same at in the 7.3 stroker. look it up yourself if you like.

melling part number JB-2104

same for valve springs. as stated before, look it up yourself.

melling part number VS-960

both them part numbers fit a 1986 6.9 and a 2000 7.3 powerstroke.

pushrods are different due to the different style rocker in the strokers.

lifters are the same i heard too but putting stronger springs on a worn lifter can cause collapse
also springs are different much different
the psd spring is a 2 spring setup and much stiffer melling may classify them both together to have to only make one part
actually the 6.9 springs are weaker than the 7.3 and the strokers are stronger even still
take some actual measurements if a part will fit companys will go and make them work for both setups even though not stock
also spec out a new motor from international youll see its different than the psd part too
