I polished some aluminum tubing once and man what a pain. You guys that smooth things out and then polish them must have some patience, that's for sure!

Wasn't getting paid didn't time, don't remember.. Would have charged 50-60 for the project, so had to have been less than 2 hours, or right at.

Flapper wheel on Peanut grinder, then sand paper to 400 grit, then a polish.

Very nice work man!:hail I wish I could tell you how long down the road I'd have all the parts for the polish, but I will be keeping you up to date when the time comes.

I own both of those polished items and I am not into bling. if you have the same parts undamaged, I will be more than happy to trade them out if you cover shipping both ways.

Heath what gears are you putting in the rears in your 466 powered truck? i'm undecided.... i know it'd move well with 2.72's in it (YES TWO) LOL. i was thinking in the 3.73-4.10 range, but maybe 3.55 would be a little better. i know with 33ish inch tires it'll have plenty of snot. but i want to be able to keep the sled moving good at the pulls. ;Sweet i forwarded the guy the money for the travelette, i'm saving for the trip or the shipping. i think a 2,300 mile trip in a travelette would be quite an adventure!;Really there's a local big truck you pull it with a few '88-'93 DT466's going for $1500 each. that's a pretty fair price right?

thanks!

Jon, I'm looking at 3.55 gearing for the axles. I'll have to see what's available as far as axles for the carrier (will change with 3.55) with that gearing. And, what carrier I can get in a locker/LS. But, with the torque of the DT466 and the low 1-3 of the Eaton Fuller, I can easily get away with taller gears if needed.

If the Travelette is in good shape, I'd be temped to just fly there and drive back. What a hoot that'd be.;Sweet

$1500 is a bit higher than I paid. I pick mine up for less than $900 and Darrin Tosh picked it up for me in MI and I met him in Cincinnati to help him buy a truck and swapped the DT from his truck to mine then. Make sure you get everything with the DT from the starter all the way to the motor mounts. That kind of stuff will nickle and dime you to death.
