I got half of that TowCat, "O" on the timing tab is what? those bumps to the left of the groove?, and I need to clean them up?
you will find the timing mark on the lower of the two pickups. the upper pickup is the 20deg offset spot. line up the groove to the "0" your "." or "y" will be visible up on top or you're in deep ****.

The "two pickups" you refer to are the two holes with tubes on them that stick out to the left of the grove? Did I get this about right?

yes.
the lower of the two "tubes" have the timing hash mark to line up the groove to. clean the hell out of the tab face and you will find the hash mark.

Hello John... You have a geat picture of the timing tab and the vibration dampner timing mark line... Now clean off the tab and turn the crank backwards or counter clockwise till you meet up with the smaller timing hole... Its the one with the tdc line on the tab just like towcat has described to you. A wire brush will clean it off fine. When thats all lined up look down into the front cover at the top of the gear... Hopefully you will see the "Y" mark... If the Dot mark is up then turn the crank one complete turn clockwise this time. The look at the gear again... You will see the "Y" this time.... Your working thru this mess just fine and asking questions will keep you from amking any mistakes. Remember that someone is always on this site with help no matter what time of day or nite....:D

Hi Gary, Re: your last post, I thought I could only turn the crank clockwise, won't I break the 15-16ths crank nut loose if I turn it counterclockwise?

Gary is asking you to turn it counterclockwise only a very little bit, looks like about an inch. If you meet too much resistance, go ahead and turn it clockwise, all the way around. But, it should be okay for that inch, unless you're fighting too much compression.

Thanks again Ken, are there any issues if I do break the 15/16ths nut loose, O ring, gaskets leaks etc? or just tighten it back up?

I should not hit much compression as my injectors are all out, anybody know if I can just tighten it back up if it breaks loose?

John... I was not aware the injectors are out. You will not have any issues with turning the crank either direction.. This information should have been posted up in the begaining but its fine now. Like I posted, just back up the crank till it dampner line reaches the small hole or timing tube in the tab. Then look for the Y or dot mark at the top of the cam gear... One or the other will show up. Then make the line across the injection pump gear and place it in. You can also make a mark straight up and down off the Y mark so you will know the gear has not been installed one tooth off. I think your getting all this information fine....
