Thanks for the website RotBox!

The drivers side bed corner got mauled by a blow-out a few months ago, before that the entire Truck was straight and flawless.

The Truck has 104K and has required very little service, the MC is leaking, the RABS valve is giving a soft pedal and the lift pump was replaced a month ago, I still need to get the cruise control recall complied with for now it is just unplugged.

The plans are to clean her up, catch up on some maintenance...SCA and rear diff oil and keep on driving it!

You bet ;Sweet I doubt there is an IDI question that hasn't been answered on this board--great community. Blackdog is also an RME member over here.

Again nice truck! You should get that IC plumbed in and post up the results ;Really

The intercooler will be a big project since we want to retain the factory filter/airbox setup, definetly a summer job...I will post results.

Thanks for the comments guys!

I got the Speed Control recall done today, it took them 20 minutes in the parking lot.

I'm looking to adjust my wastegate to limit boost as it easily hits 17psi just getting on the freeway unloaded, I have seen 18psi when towing.

What is considered a safe boost and pyro level? I've done a ton of reading but there are some conflicting suggestions out there.

Nice truck. Looking forward to the intercooler update. I have a very similar truck and I'm getting ready to install an intercooler. Good luck!

I am confused by the "97" intercooler? Being an intercooler did not come on these trucks till 99

EDIT:
You are right it is a '99 Intercooler...as you can tell I'm new to IDI's and diesels in general.

With the stock turbo, anything above 12-13psi is super heating the air. Basically the turbo is spinning so fast its making the intake air temp hot, like 300*F+, and you wont see any gains going higher.

Safe boost is what you think it is. If its holding together at 17psi, I guess you are ok. With a 7.3 with head bolts, I would limit it to 15psi max. Pryo, where is the thermocoupler mounted? If its in the exhaust manifold or right after, 1200*F+ is out of the safe limit. Try to keep it at around 1100*F for a max safe sustained level.

Nice truck man ;Sweet
