I was replacing a valve cover gasket today and found lots of moisture in valve cover and light grey oil, also the push rods are rusted. Is there any way to tell if this is a blown head gasket or worse?

That's worse case scenario. It could also be the intake manifold pan/gasket. The pan gasket blocks water ports that if leak puts it right in the valley. I think this is more of your problem. You would remove the intake any way to do the head gaskets.

Here's the other stuff. You should be able to torque them to 85ftlbs.

The other thing you want to look into is the oil cooler on the driver side of the engine as seen here with the red ends.

The orings get from ford or International. 2 o-rings on both ends of the tube, and they are both different. Gaskets you can get from auto parts store. Use thread sealent on the bolts and dry on the gaskets with the built in silicone bead.
PART #'s
It uses a total of 4 orings, 2 outers and 2 inners.

International part #s are for a bag of 2 rings

-thicker ring 1804414C1
-thinner ring 1807563C1

Here's the #'s at Ford call them too
Oil cooler O rings - Ford - 1C3Z-6K649-BA

Oil cooler gasket - Ford - E3TZ-6A636-G

Sure will. Remove everything off the motor as seen in my above pic (crank pulley will "touch" radiator if left on) and it will come right out the top. That pic is right before I put it in my truck.
These things dressed are heavy so I used a fork lift, but a heavy duty engine hoist will work fine.

personally i think pulling the motor will make changing head gaskets easier, i mean you can do it with the motor in the truck but if you want to change clutch to you might as well pull it, and to make it the easiest then you should pull the radiator and core support that way you dont have to lift the engine very high

i remeber you saying you had headgasket troubles lately, and you got studs, did you pull the engine to change it with studs or did you manage to do it with out pulling it?

I redid both sides WITHOUT pulling the engine. 2.5 hrs the passenger side was off. Going back together took longer because of the dam banks tranny dipstick tube.....long story.:backoff

Now that I remove the ac box cover it's really not bad at all. I think now the driver side is harder. I don't like telling people to remove the front core because on these trucks it opens a whole can of worms. Between rusty stubborn body mount bolts and discharging all your A/C refridgerant it isn't worth it at all to me to go that route, not for as easy as it comes out the top with plenty of room.

Here's a pic with the A/C box cover out of the way:

Plenty of room for the torque wrench:
