These "old schools" force me to post a pic of my jeep tires. I guess some use them for duals on the rear but they are not recommended for the front..

Michelin LTX M/S They are definitely more of a highway tire, but if you want longevity under a heavy truck, they'll suit you.

I still really like my BFG's, what's your issue with them?

Spent a a lot of years aligning these things and I've watched hundreds of trucks come up on the machine so I've formed an opinion based on my own experience. Take it for what it's worth. Anything with an aggresive tread is going to be noisey and wear out over the long haul. If you got a lot of money cool but if your looking for a little longevity, handling and ride stay away from the cool looking mudders. Michelins are by far the most forgiving and best performing overall.The LTX is an awesome tire. I put 4 LT285/75/16 E range LTX AT2's on mine 2 years ago and they are wearing perfect. The AT is a little more agressive then the LTX but in my mind a good compromise for those that want a traction tire for their 4X4. The first AT's had some cupping issues but the AT2's have corrected that concern. They set me back 900.00 for the set on sale. I used to be a Good Year guy but I'm disappointed in their quality lately as we are seeing a lot of drivability issues with them. There isn't really another brand/model that I like out there right now for a lot of different reasons. Ck the link below.

Maybe I will have a change of heart for the BFG's, but for right now I'm just going to weigh my options. I know down in the part of Texas I will be in, there wont be a ton of gravel roads.

I have Cooper Discoverer ATR's on my F250 and like them. They are 265/75R16. They don't throw rocks (I live on a gravel too but my paint is s**** so I don't care about it anyway). I bought them used, for next to nothing. I can drive through 2 feet of snow no problem- I went thru our ditch last year (fun but I was worried it wouldn't make it)

The rears wore quicker than expected- had to learn to take it easier on the throttle. I rotated them, and the "new" rears still look good as I'm being more careful.

The only downer is they are load range C. I want some E-rated 285s next time.

Of all of the tires I have run, the two I would recommend most are the Kumho AT KL78 and the Cooper Courser if they are still made. Both types of tires had the same style tread and made that damn lite 89 K1500 4x4 (that I use as a 2 ton) actually get some traction. They were wonderful tires, and I put them used on the 86 Ford 2wd when I got the Kumhos and still get tremendous traction with them

Just my opinion, but I do want to get a set of those Power Kings! Oh, that brings back memories

Whats everyones opinion on 315's...the increased height would be nice to lower rpm's at cruising speed. Any rubbing issues (I think its the 92+body style that has problems with these tires rubbing). I'm going to go measure.

dont know what youre gonna get but ive always had good luck with downtown,no-name tire shop cheapies.

also keep in mind my trucks were all 2wd duallies.but i got great traction on mud,snow,ice,sand and whatever else i could get myself stuck in

my 95 duallie runs 15.01 in the 1/4 mile.with no name cheapies i cant launch it like i was at the track with the locker in it.the ass will hop a foot off the ground(ill get pics of it if i fix it someday)with town fair tire's cheapies on it the ass end would slide right out from under me going around a corner.instead of wheel hopping it would just fry the tires.i complained to town fair tire about them but all they would do is give me another set.well i ended up with whatever the next tire was for free cuz they couldnt give me my free front end alignment with the purchase of 4 tires cuz they dont have a store in my state that can handle a crew cab duallie.told the customer service guy not to even bother putting my info in for the warranty cuz im just gonna burn them off and go to sears.and those tires suck.1 day of burning the tires up and they are almost junk,probably 10% tread left

.my car carrier that ive had since becoming a member here has only gone through 2 sets of tires in 130,000 miles that I drove it.everybody else around thats running the same type of truck and use name brand tires go through a set of tires in less than a year.and dont forget that my truck was cut and stretched by me using a tape measure,square and a torch.no fancy machines or jigs to make sure it was done straight.
