Hey it sounds like you are definitely keeping your intake charge cool. Yes propane is a catalyst and helps you get a better burn out of the diesel. I don't know if it's the turbo or the high compression of the IDI that leads to the inefficient boost after 12-13 psi though.

Propane will cool the intake ar sharge and cool the egt. If I recall its somewhere around -160 degrees when its srpayed into the intake. The changing out of the head bolts one at a time for studs is a risky business for sure. It seems to work but for how long is still being looked at carefully. I wont try it because of the locations I drive and the horses I haul. I can't afford a break down. I really wouldn't want a head gasket to let go in my driveway either....;Really I broke two of Kens head studs in my driveway. I had just filled the truck with fuel and drove it home ready for a trip. When I got home I found a stud laying in the driveway. When I looked at the motor another stud was "missing". They both were on the drivers side head at the center and in line with the exhaust area. Coolant was leaking out of the head. So it was a mess... The ARP studs are working fine without any issues.

i think the propane in my opinion is cooling the intake like water/**** but not as much so i think it helps the efficiency of the turbo and the egts at that boost are around 800 degrees

Your EGT's are fine, but that's not really a measure at all of the intake temp. My EGT's never changed (max 850) on the dyno between the DPS and Moose Injectors. But, the extra boost (15+) was too hot, and I lost 6HP, despite the same EGT's. I said that to say this, I still think boosting that particular turbo over 12 psi is likely not add much power and you may be loosing some. And, certainly the new wastegated ATS you have now will be inefficient at 12+ psi.

ok well i know i will dang sure spool up quicker with this turbo though, thats really what i was looking for but i can give up a couple of pounds on the high end.

I'm not sure how much different the exhaust housings are but the Aurora 2000 is an upgrade for the Cummins, all of my buddies with Cummins trucks run anywhere from 25-40 psi on stock H1C and HX35s.

I think the final compression ratio of the engine/turbo combo plays into the efficiency ceiling of turbo boost. Some one correct me if I'm wrong.

The turbos on the kits are sized small for the IDI's, so they fall off the island after 13 psi boost. Just heat and lost power. If you want to go past the 275hp airflow/boost limit, you gotta size the charger up. If the compression, cam timing and fuel allowed it, they would have started with a bigger turbo, but the liabilities of blown head gaskets and other issues stopped ATS, Banks and Hypermax from doing that. Most customers don't think about pushing these engines that far.

They have the structure and fuel to make that happen and live. I wish I could run that kind of boost and fuel through a stock IDI. Imagine the sound that thing could make.;Sweet

Max Power has an Aurora 2000 in his Superduty with a ZF5 speed and 5.13s. Pulls great, get's 11 mpg grossing 22-23k and low egts. Good set up. He's in the thread "idi's in medium duty apps"; beautiful truck.;Sweet

If the propane is vaporizing then it has to be warmer than -40. Propane will not vaporize at -40 or colder. Natural Gas on the other hand is still gaseous at -40.
