You can use the festiva, it will do it. You don't need a lot of speed. I have seen a vw bug pull start a semi so I know it will handle it.

Ok, here are some pics I took I forgot to upload at the time two are from the old O terminal that came from the battery cable and the other 2 are from the starter mounted solenoid's bolt that holds the O terminal

The solenoid should look almost exactly the same as the one on your truck (that by the looks of things is TOASTED). The easiest way to replace the solenoid is set both of them side by side and move one wire over at a time to the same bolt/terminal/contact on the new one.

Thats how I do mine when its late/dark/raining/snowing and Im too tired to think.

remember though, once you get it on, Crank for 20 seconds then give it a couple minutes to cool off. As you can see this stuff gets pretty hot in a big hurry.

Im new on this site, and am a motorcycle tech, so I have no room to critisize anyones diesel mechanic abilities. That being said, Punk is now my new Hero. Diagnosis in any industry is key, and this guy has his ducks in a row. The patience he shows comes from thousands of hours of dealing w/ clients who perpetually fault him for their deficiencies.
Earning their respect is a difficult task when you contitnually play their game. Bottom line--If you know your sh-- the argument ends, If you dont---- shut your mouth and open your ears!!! Punk has obviously bit his tongue in half over the years and Has gained my respect. I will definately be asking this guy for advise on my 94 idi, and possibly on my next tatoo as well. I have a feeling punk lives where its cold, cause his work ethic definately reflects it. God knows when its 30 below, and you dont keep movin, your gonna freeze to death. God bless all, sure hope this kid (fordman) invests in some q-tips.

That is gonna be on my quote list for years.

Thanks to all for all the complements. I do what I can, I owe it to my father for being so patient with me, that and many many friends along the way.

Punk,
I read a few of your posts here and there. Read a few of your replies to ken in this thread, sound like a hell of a guy. Granted you had the time, I am in Eugene OR. I could definitely use access/help to a timing ferret and or/ IP diagnostics due to not revving over 2700 rpms. Doesnt have the power i know it should. And makes an odd exhaust valve noise (just started recently). As if an valve isnt closing completely. (PM me if anyone wants as to not highjack this infamous thread)

If the issue of not reving past 2700 rpm is how the motor has been all along or this is after a pump has been installed then the pump is probably wrong for this truck. I have not been following this thread closely but... Some injection pumps that fit our trucks are governored for dump trucks and school buses. They only rev up to 2700 rpm. Hope this helps..
