Are you trying to change the starter without about a foot and a half of extensions? I could see that being a large PITA. The bolts are a bit hard to get, but, with enough extensions it goes pretty easy.
Remember that my front end is different than the Twin I beam, or the TTB.Are you trying to change the starter without about a foot and a half of extensions? I could see that being a large PITA. The bolts are a bit hard to get, but, with enough extensions it goes pretty easy.
wrong.I meant enough extension to get clear of the starter... been a while since I did one, so, that was just an approximation.
And, no, nothing is different about the front part of the frame on your truck than a 4x4 F250 or 350, only the springs, and the axle, if you really wanted to, you could bolt a TTB setup in your truck, with it's springs... And, the F450/Super Duty springs are a bolt in 6" lift for a D60 F350...
Prove it? no problem. At the moment, all I have are pics of the two examples, a little later, I will have data on the frames between the two. f450 frames and crossmembers are visually and measurably thicker than f250/350. the springs by your own admission is different. the bolts that hold in the f450 springs are also larger in size, so if you do put in the f450 springs, you will have to either drill out the shackles and brackets for the larger bolts or live with a ticking time bomb of sloppy spring eye and bolt combo.Wrong? Prove it. They are different from the cab back, no argument there, but not as far as the front suspension or engine crossmember is concerned. And, I didn't day the front springs are the same, I said they are a bolt in dimension wise with 6" more arch in them. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt... It was actually F350 springs and a D60 into a 450, but the springs will swap both ways.
Many thanks to all that reccomended the "bolt-out" socket.I just got some 3/8 x 1.5 12 point head for mine, makes it real easy to get a socket on the top one. And the originals are 1/2 inch head. American engine ,not import.
