Is it really necessary in a 50/50? I have been running it without issues. I put ATF in the bowl on occasion to clean the injectors. I really dont have the resources to heat the stuff. Just curious.

tier hog, after countless hours of testing and cleaning i would say in summer when then engine is hot in california no. but any other time yes.

im currently working on a transfer/heat tank/ centrifuge combo to really work some magic. the racor parts come tuesday and then i can finish putting it together.

what is the price of diesel down there?

what size micron filter have you been pre filtering the mwo with?

Id say in the central valley there you wont need any heat what so ever for summer, probably only really need it in Jan and Feb. Take a jar of 50/50 and wait till the wife is gone and stick it in the fridge over night and in the morning see how it looks and pours.

MUST WAIT TILL WIFE IS GONE FOR LAST STEP.

I have seen this subject discussed on many occasions. One thing I have often wondered but never seen mentioned is installing a heating element directly in the fuel tank. Forgive my ignorance on this issue for I am just learning about running WEO and I would like to learn more. Can one install a heating element directly in the tank? Would it work, or blow the truck up?

once its all done youll be loving the fact that you can run your truck on anything you can call "oil" based.

it works good to because then you can also use it to heat the bio/diesel/ whatever in the snow times, when you really need it up here.

ive got some really cool ideas/ setup tricks that will help you if you want.

for my home tank that i use to store/ clean and de-water etc the oils its super simple.

i took an old transfer pump/ tank setup that i had for diesel etc, took the factory filter off and put a 2way valve on it so i can the pump through the fitler or just straight pumping. i did this so when i go to pick up the oil from somewhere i can pump it out fairly easy, and its much faster. then later when i get home i can plug in my tank heater, which by the way was 12 bucks at lowes and its just the 5500watt water tanks heater element that i put in some one inch pip that is welded low and below the L in the tank so its always submerged. Make sure its always submerged when its on otherwise itll blow up. anyways that has been wired well etc. so that element will get that 60 gallons of waste oil steaming hot in about 35 minutes! it really heats that stuff up. then once the oil is really hot and such i switch over the 2 way valve and pump it through the primary 10 micron then through the 2 micron centrifuge and water seperator. it works quite well.

i got every single part from NAPA for everything except for the heating element.

Its worth your time to do it right like me the first time. now i can set my timer and forgot it

This is something I do plan to get into when I get home. I already have my wife clearing a spot in our yard to I can biuld my still. One thing I am confused on though is the oil in the lines. If you are pre-heating it in the tank, what about what sits in the lines over night? I know some people swicth back to diesel before shutting down to clean the lines. buy what if I want to run 100% WEO?

does your dually have two tanks?

if so you just wait to switch over till its real hot then swith back over at least 5 mins before shutdown to flush and dilutes the engines lines.

switching back over the next day isnt a problem there is only about 18 inches of oil filled lines that wont get flushed out and when you have the hot oil coming it'll pull through just fine.

are you in iraq or something?

for serious veggie/weo blends you do what i said plus put some electric heaters in the mix too.

Yes, I have dual tanks. However, I was hoping to refine it to the point that I can use only WEO. Is that even possible?

Yes, I am in Mosul Iraq right now.

it is possible but not without lots of money. and it wouldnt off set the cost of diesel.

heating it really hot then filtering it down to 2 microns with a water seperator is expensive as it is.

another option is a centrifuge but they are slower and depending on the model dont really de water well because as soon as they stop spinning they drain back into the clean area.
