I am sure they have an idit motor for mock up to.......A local muffler shop would make this for less then $200. Geesh.

CDD is out of stock and waiting for a new run to be manufactured by the company they have subbed it out to and I can't reach IDIot. My truck is out of commission because of this damn joint! I have had it apart 3 times trying different things but can't overcome that something has changed and it just doesn't work anymore. I'm going to go deeper and pull the up pipe and y pipe and take them to a blacksmith that lives down the road from me. He's a genius with metal, has won Forged by Fire twice - maybe he can come up with a fix for me.![]()
6.9/7.3 IDI One Piece Stainless Bellowed Up-Pipe for Factory Turbo (ATS 093) IDI Turbo Kits
After years of design work and testing, Classic Diesel Designs has produced a one piece, bellowed up pipe built around the OEM turbo kit design. This up pipe replaces the bulky, cast, two piece Y and Up pipe that tend to leak boost and soot through the slip joints over time. Fits all 6.9/7.3...classicdieseldesigns.com
$358 for something like it
I bought the high dollar one made by @IDIoit
It’s a very high quality piece, will most definitely outlast everything else around it, and should be very easy to install.
It’s also guaranteed to fit, and that’s probably a tall order for a muffler shop, what with engine and firewall clearance, and putting the turbo in just the right spot to fit the intake hat, pedestal, and downpipe. There’s more going on there than you might think. Also, the V band clamp and bellow used aren’t particularly cheap. Probably $150ish at least for these two parts, if not more. Welding supplies, oh and stainless steel tubing isn’t the cheapest either.
Maybe it’s a little bit expensive, but he told me that it’s mostly to fund his projects, so figures it’d be expensive.
Bottom line, it’s the highest quality y/up pipe on the market, priced accordingly.
you can go to a muffler shop and have them mig weld you some mild steel, no bellow for vibration/expansion, and heat wrap it for rust promotion.A local muffler shop would make this for less then $200. Geesh.
i didnt get a call from ya, so i expect that v band clamp had more room than you imagined?Got the new pipe from Idioit all installed and looking forward to trying it! But waiting for radiator shop to finish rebuilding my radiator... I'll post results!
Yep! Took me a couple of tries to figure out where to position it and a bunch of 1/8 turns of the wrench but it all seems good. Thanks!i didnt get a call from ya, so i expect that v band clamp had more room than you imagined?![]()
