FYI, they are available again. Search for part # 1805389C3
Glad to see that. Haven’t had to buy one since then. Back then I lucked up on both the 6.9 and 7.3, and found 2 at an Oreillys warehouse down here in Baton Rouge and told them to grab them for me lol. But that’s good to see they’re at least in stock again at other places.

From experience your 7.3 is going to be cheaper than the 6.9.

The prices for 6.9 commodities are a good bit more than most of the 7.3 commodities.

Sure a lot of the stuff is interchangeable but for the most part when I rebuilt my 6.9 it was during the height of Covid and of course everything was on “back order…” so maybe it’s a little different now. Biggest thing I had a problem with was getting a new intake manifold gasket. I however build my own intake just like R&D did. Now I’m about to build another Intake For this 7.3 NA that I’m building and going to put a 4” aluminum 90 on it so I can put an actual breather on it that’s not directly in the top of the engine, plus it will eliminate the possibility of water getting into it due to the poor design of the hood that ford had.

I imagine your water jackets would be extremely thinned out at that point. I can’t remember the bore diameter on the 6.9, but I believe the 7.3 is right at 4.00” or either 4.25”, I’ll have to google it or pull stock and stock later when I get home as I’ve got a 6.9 with a busted #8 cylinder sitting under my bench and a 7.3 on the stand that I need to get to rebuilding. But if you over bored to the diameter of the 7.3 I’d likely say you’d have an overheating issue due to the thinned out walls.
4” for 6.9 and 4.11” for the 7.3 if I remember correctly

I'm re-reorgonizing my carport to do the 6.9........maybe......i get wishy-washy before I start stuff like this, I'm liable to change back to the 7.3 and save the 6.9 for the "engine on deck" as it were. But anyway, I'm going to pull the pistons out of the 6.9 and stare at stuff and see if I have an epiphany or something. The weather is just miserable for engine building in a carport.the turbo block I just opened up is completely surface rusted in the cylinders from the extreme humidity. We aren't getting cold fronts pushing through yet to dry the air. They're stalling up above us somewhere and with the warm air from the Gulf it just makes cloudy humid uncomfortableness. It may as well be raining in my carport it's so humid in there. All that being said, to say, my plan is to make my final decision, buy everything I need for the engine, have everything clean and ready, and slam it out when we get a week of dry air. Viva la oil burners!!!

And this is why I stay FAR away from places like Florida. I can't handle high humidity these days. Especially when there's heat involved.

I flew into Houston, TX when I was in my 20's. I got off the airplane and needed a towel. That was my first trip to where is is humid.

I drink more than a gallon of water a day, double that in the summer. If you're an outdoor guy like me and you don't just hide in the house, you're soaked most all the time.
Most people stay inside 6-8 months of the year.

Sounds like you need a visit up North once ice fishing season starts.
And my new ice shack is almost done.
Consider that an invite.

That was the only snow that amounted to anything last winter. It was fun while it lasted.

Sometimes. Other times not quite so bad.
My wife's from Rockford IL. If I could I'd move there in a heartbeat to make her happy, but she married a poor white guy that's stuck in humid majestic NW Florida. That's where I saw snow. Even Made a snowman.
