Look for movement on both the impeller and turbine, side to side, up and down and in and out and make sure it spins freely. Look for oil inside the impeller/turbine, damage indicating something has gone through tjmhe turbo (bent fins, scratch marks inside, missing chunks) and make sure everything is there.

Ty, and seeing movement and or damage to the turbine means it would need a rebuild, or that its beyond saving?

I was checking out the photos of a new kit..should I take the gauges too off the vehicle if they're there?

Movement means it needs rebuilt, if the impeller or turbine moved enough to hit the housing where they have been rubbing, then it would probably be best to look for something in better shape
Edit: a good turbo will have a small amount of movement for the oil clearance.

Dang the thing was sold with the ad still up. The quest continues..

Got cowl seal in from LMC and primed the intake cover now that the leaks fixed.

If you guys get the Bully steps off amazon which is linked through their website, buy your own hardware.

The screws stripped, and I snapped a bolt tightening the steps down. Fyi I am 6'2" and 165 pounds in boots, not exactly a human torque wrench.

I was a little peeved, since I got these for my pregnant fiance to get in the truck easier and she coulda fell If this hardware failed. Went to Ace and got new carriage bolts, lock washers and nylon locking nuts. And some screws that dont shred under a DeWalt 20v impact.

They look keen though, all said and done.

Odd. I just put mine on from Summit and it went on great. I slammed it all home with my 60v impact without issue. Inconsistent manf. probably.

Ik! I read your post about them and went to order some, I sent them an email let ya know if I hear back.

Edit:
I ordered mine off Amazon, I went back and compared Summit against the Bully USA website/Amazon store and I dont see a difference other than price. Went over the instruction manual and box for any missing info, says its weighted 300 pounds, and I did get bit by a spider the other day..

Removing positive cables today and the ones from LMC come with 1 smaller wire offshooting from passenger battery.

Mine on the truck had 2...and I got stuck on how to go from here. Attempting to wire it in I somehow drained the battery.

I'm gonna charge the batteries in the morning. Does anybody have a setup similar to this?

I know I disconnected everything safely, negatives first, positives, then disconnected the starter cable. Reassembly same except the 1 offshoot is tripping me up.

Huzzah!

Got up early and made coffee and went to fuss with it. I had the wiring order all messed up!

it goes positive term > starter relay > gp relay. Time to clean up that maze a bit in the engine bay. The new cable is also a bit too long so that gonna lose about 4" so I can close the hood proper.

Had a little grinding today going into 4wd. For some reason it goes in like butter with the engine off but if I have it idling and in N the shifter feels like it has a lot of resistance or isn't on 'track'

Engine off -> N -> goes thru all 4wd gears smooth

Engine on -> N -> feels stuck and I have to play to find the path down thru 2h/n/4h/4l

Same flat level ground all the times.

Wondering/hoping it's a shift knob bushing or something easy..

Gonna read the owners manual in the morning and try not to obsess over it!

Are you trying to shift the transfer case with the transmission in gear? If so its possible the clutch isn't fully disengaging causing the input shaft to spin a little bit.

Always in Neutral, manual lockers are locked first before going into N, truck on flat even ground

only difference is engine on. my shifter gauge is slightly off in the dash..possible I'm not fully disengaged

If you can figure out how to roll the truck just a bit, while shifting, this would help get the gears moving so they mesh.

I'd rather just kill the ignition than hear my gears grind even for a second. The truck lasted this long I gotta be a good caretaker!
