1990 F350.

When I took my axle apart, only the passenger side had the rubber seal which slips into the spindle right up against the needle bearing.

I am not talking about seal #59 620062 which is a seal which slips on the axle shaft.

OK, that's odd...only finding the seal on one side.

Here is more odd: Neither the Ford FSM nor the Dana IPL show the seal. And, I can not find a PN.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,

Roy

Does this help at all? It has pictures.

Mine you couldn't even tell what it had because they came apart in multiple dry rotted chunks. Almost looks like part of the bigger seal is what you're looking at but I don't know.

Thanks. Yes, that thread has great pics.

I am starting to believe there may be an old-style and newer seal...and, the PO threw both of them in on the passenger side. Yes, I know that makes very little sense.

Correct. The 'new' seal arrangement began around the time Ford switched the D60 to balljoints ('92?) I believe it coincides with the lack of a snap-ring groove in the stub axle. Either style works AFAIK.

Is there a chance the one side has a Dana 50 spindle instead? These are 'shorter' on the backside, so there's a bigger gap to seal.
