I gotcha. Not the worst idea for a permanent fix though either!Absolutely! I just meant if you can't find the problem and need a quick fix!

Although I don't have the same transmission as you(ZF here), I did try running non-synthetic fluid for a while and then switched to Amsoil synthetic and the difference was HUGE!
Just remember that the Zf5s run ATF. The four speed transmissions run gear lube (like 80w/90). If you go with a synthetic oil in your transmission, be sure to get a synthetic gear lube like you'd use in your differentials. Can you shoot me a link for the oil or a picture so I know what I am looking for?

These also got ATF in them. Now I could be wrong on this, but the way I keep it straight is that if it's an aluminum housing, it gets ATF. If it's cast (like a NP 205 transfer case) Then it gets gear oil.The bog warner 1345 gets gear oil as well?
Looks like you've got a couple problems. I'd pull the wheels off and look, either your brakes aren't adjusted properly, or the cables are disconnected or stretched. That spring is shot too.
It's possible someone put the wrong cables on there too, I hate fussing with parking brake cables!
