This is a video of my non turbo 6.9 cold start sitting 2days. New injectors,plugs... everything except IP. Hoping this is just a ip timing. Any help is appreciated. Rev to about 600rpm then 1100rpm then shut off. Also, the shut off seems very rough.is this normal?

It sounds pretty good to me. If anything it sounds a little harsh and power strokey which would indicate advanced timing but that seems unlikely as new injectors should want to crack open at a higher psi than old units.

Have you had it out on the road?

Where did you source the injectors from?

He got his injectors from DCP in Tennessee. About 3 weeks ago @Cainon started a thread about his engine shaking after he put the new injectors in. Here’s a link to that thread:

If it was my truck, based off of the video audio, I would retard the timing a hair and run a fuel filter of atf through the injection system and then make the truck do some decently heavy work and just see how it does. That’s just my two cents, but to me the timing sounds too advanced :dunno

Thanks! Had a hard time posting video in old thread. Sorry for the confusion

sorry dude, DCP puts out junk, no pop test, tested all over the board from 600 to 2800 on a set I bought, then read the hall of shame. they are not rebuilding, just cleaning and using old parts. it hurts, but the recommended on here, one tests them for you for about 80? He also rebuilds them or buy new stanadynes. ( Yes, you can get them still)

Yes, I drive it everyday to work about 6 miles round trip so not very far. 60mph road so it drives fine. Shifts little rough into fourth sometimes but feel like thats my driving. It's just that knock/tick gets faster with rpm. So I figured I'd double check here. And from previous post I have read. A 6.9 non turbo should be rather slow. Mine pulls like it's getting more fuel then needed.

The first thing that I'd before messing around with the timing is to raise your idle speed. If you have to rev the engine to get to 600RPMs, it's idling too slow. That may do as much as anything else for your rough idle. I think that the normal idle speed is 700-800 RPMs. I may be a little high on that number.

poor injectors will do just that, I have an 89 auto 4x4, idles best at 750 in drive with brake on, recommended is 700 plus for auto
