LT and load E are a class of tire.... not a weight rating. The weight rating is separate number stamped on the side of the tire. 235/85R16E and 245/75R16E are only rated for 3045#.

The lightest tire I use for heavy loads are rated for 3750# or greater. No issues.

I put on Michelin XPS RIB radial truck tires last fall. These are very heavy 10 ply tires which cured a high speed vibration I've been throwing parts at without success for 15 years. The weight rating is 3044 lbs but the quality, weight, and ride was worth the $250 price per tire because now I have a pickup that doesn't double as a paint shaker at 70mph.

To add even more confusion (the tire people did, not me) they have what they call now "tire load index" number. A load index in the area of 123 will give you a 10 ply tire or LT style tire. A load index number around 116 is a "P" tire or passenger car tire.

Load index is actually a good spec. You can ignore the LT/E stuff. The higher the number, the higher the actual weight rating. My 315/75R16E are listed as 127Q with a 3860# rating.
