LT and load E are a class of tire.... not a weight rating. The weight rating is separate number stamped on the side of the tire. 235/85R16E and 245/75R16E are only rated for 3045#.
The lightest tire I use for heavy loads are rated for 3750# or greater. No issues.
To add even more confusion (the tire people did, not me) they have what they call now "tire load index" number. A load index in the area of 123 will give you a 10 ply tire or LT style tire. A load index number around 116 is a "P" tire or passenger car tire.
