Ford flushed my system so it has motorcraft green. The service guy said I didn't need SCA's add as it was in the flush....got some test strips and it showed 0 SCA's so I looked for motorcraft Cooley additives but no luck so I added WIX coolant addictives to it.
Part number is VC8 for the motorcraft additive

Sadly non of the stores nearby had it so WIX branded additives it is for this round. I just didn't want to risk doing anything more waiting on shipping.

No OReilly around?

I've been using Chevron Delo ELC for several years without any issues. It has specific additives to protect cylinder liners and is good for 750k miles without additives.

If you add Delo FleetFix CME at 500k miles, Chevron says Delo ELC is good for a million miles. Since my truck had 200k miles on it when I started using it... don't think I need to worry about extending to one million miles [emoji16]. It's for medium and light duty applications.

The stuff isn't cheap... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00M1Y3R5I/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1&th=1

Chevron Delo ELC:

No, it isn't cheap from Amazon. Some of that seems to be shipping charges folded into the price. But that is the stuff I have been using.

I have been getting mine through Southern Counties Lubricants.

A friend at NAPA auto parts hooked me up to SCL. So you may have to ask around at local truck stops and auto parts retailers to see who has connections for Chevron's industrial stuff.

I get mine about $20/gal full strength. Helps a lot if your jobber will toss a case of it (6 gallons) on a truck headed for a retailer convenient to you Or at least that is the way I got mine.

Well, I am a former Chevron employee, at the Pascagoula refinery, and have a very favorable impression of their operations.

How would you guys go about flushing the coolant system to change from green to final charge?

Drain everything, fill with distilled water, run for a few mins, drain, fill with final charge?

I can tell you what I did. I dumped the entire cooling system, refilled with tap water ran it couple miles, drained it, refilled with water and cooling system cleaner and drove it for a month. Then i drained it, filled with water, ran a little bit, drained it, refilled water again, ran again, drained, then I took my air hose and blew out the heater core and radiator and made sure nothing was left in it. Every time I did this I watched what came out of the block drains. Last time was clean, so I closed everything up and filled it with final charge. 2 years it still looks new. Maybe a little extreme but my cooling system was neglected so I wanted it clean.

I went with the Chevron Dell ELC so I don't have to worry about SCA levels... I know I would get busy and not check the levels as often as they would need to be.

I just poured in purple stuff, and I wonder about the higher ph (10-11) of it. Is that anything to consider in our application? Spec sheet here: hd purple

I run shell rotella ELC in all my idi trucks... Mainly because it was free. So, work was going to throw away a full 55 gallon drum of the stuff because it's not what they want to use in the fleet trucks and it had been sitting in a storage trailer for several years so I "threw it away" in the bed of my pickup. Can't beat it for the low price of nothing.
