I have an 01' F350 injector smoke on start up pretty bad. Truck has 403,000 and ran strong. I knew I had to do something about the injectors just kept putting it off (I know...... STUPID). It started running a little rough at idle but under load it was the same as always. On my way to work and coming to a light truck just shuts down. Wont refire. I knew the injectors needed rebuilt so I did them thinking it might cure the problem. Went through the proper procedures to reinstall , cleaning the bores and clearing the cylinders ect. It is possible im not being patient enough to let the oil and fuel system purge the air but how long should this procedure take? Is there a breaker or reset anywhere that could have caused the original shut down?

No breaker or reset. Probably just need to purge the air out by cranking over using the starter and GOOD batteries.

Thanks for the quick response. I have my charger hooked up as im turning it over. I just dont want to crank it for 30 seconds, seems like ill heat the starter. Im probably not being patient enough. I forgot to mention it shows oil pressure at the gauge and tach moves on turn over.

How fast is it spinning? What’s your voltage while cranking? Do you have oil coming out the injectors yet?

Spinning normally, not sure what the voltage is. Havent pulled the valve covers back off to look. Pressure at the gauge though.

Actually I think I meant the IPR. Do I check this by removing the ICP, cranking the motor quickly with a rag over the hole to check for oil pressure? Would the ICP failure cause the truck to shut down?

Lol no. Sure, that would show pressure, but the "standards" are 500 psi minimum to start. I don't think you will be able to eyeball the difference in 300 psi and 600 psi.
To test the icp, look into the connector for oil. And just try unplugging it and starting.

If you actually mean icp, yes, it can.
But the ipr can as well. Make sure the nut is on tight. Some have tested the ipr by cooling it down via water. (On a hot engine)
It's possible you haven't cranked enough to get the air out.

Is it smoking at all while cranking? It's possible that your failure was elsewhere. Have you verified the fuel bowl is filling?
Does the wait to start light work? Is the check engine light staying lit?

First, thank you for your time and efforts. I've tried to start it around 20 ,20 second hits on the starter. No smoke. Fuel bowl is filling. Wait to start light works and I wait every time under normal circumstances. Haven't played attention to the check engine light. Check engine light never came on when the truck originally shut down. I'm trying to figure out if it is something else that is causing my no start. Probably what shut it down to begin with.

No smoke means one of a few things: 1. Not getting fuel. 2. No high pressure oil. 3. Not firing the injectors.
The bowl is filling, so that rules out 1. My next step would be to figure out the high pressure oil situation. This could well be the ipr.
The check engine light should just briefly flash as you turn the key on. Don't blink, you may miss it flash. That is the normal operation. Sounds like the wait to start light is working as it should as well, so I would say the pcm is fine. But you may unplug the fuel heater on the filter. They are known to short out, when that happens it can blow the pcm fuse.
You may pull the idm and shake it to listen for water. This is another common issue.

New batteries and new IPR cranks and sounds like it's going to start but won't. Getting oil at injectors, smoke at the exhaust and no codes.
