I drive an 1994 IDI E350 van in Germany and we are not used to Bing Bing Bing Bing, when door is open and key inserted.

It totally drives me crazy! (Cannot high light that enough)

How can I turn it off the easy way? There should be a loud speaker somewhere ...
Also a switch the detects the key, also when in off position.

Anyone find this before?

is anything else affected by removing the nuisance ding ding ding ?
That´s a good question!

Funny thing is, I searched for that last week an had the Chime Box in my hand ;-) and also looked again into this tread again.

There was something but I cannot recapture that.

...isn´t it interior light?

btw: I actually overlooked the unit from your picture above several times :frustrate it has been an ambulance and therefor has a lot of unoriginal wiring with a harness right in front of that door chime.

There is a single wire going from chime box to a contact on the lock cylinder It is like disarming a bomb. Cut the___ wire and the key dinger stops but the headlight dinger still works. Done many but I don’t remember the color. 150 miles away from my trucks and drawings

thanks.

I am wondering since years why people in the US seam to like it. Living in good old Germany - all sounds from cars are noticed as to being annoyingly. Either bing/bing or engine or exhaust :backoff

Make no mistake us people in the US Do Not like it either. I'm not sure what reason they had to install them but it's common to eliminate them.
