Shims can stop 'Death Wobble' and it sounds like you are getting the start of Death Wobble. The shim sets the kingpin angle and this will stop wobble before it starts.

Oh great haha. I saw the bushings on the steering stabilizer are dry rotted and coming off so i ordered another a new one the other day and was hoping that was it. Sounds like i should just rebuild the front end though, i usually do on anything i buy but i've only had this one since August and i couldnt find anything with play asside from the stabilizer.

As far as I know steering stabilizers shouldn't be necessary if everything is tight and straight with stock size tires and such. My truck has done fine without it the last 20k miles. I'm just wondering if that is a tapered caster shim.

I got under the truck and it didnt look tapered to me. Both sides are the same. I wouldnt say i feel a wobble, more so i just feel the bump in the steering wheel. I have a new red head box on it that's tight
